Embedded Software Engineer – Rust (MCU Systems)

For our teams in Brno and Rožnov, we are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer focused on Rust and modern embedded systems.

If you already work with Rust — or you are coming from embedded C and want to take the next step — this role gives you the opportunity to build real systems on real hardware, not just prototypes or side projects.

At NXP, you will design and develop production-grade embedded software, working close to silicon and influencing how Rust is used across MCU platforms.

🔍 Responsibilities – What is part of job we do

• Develop drivers, middleware, and system components in Rust for MCU platforms (MCX, LPC, i.MX RT, Kinetis)

• Work on low-level bring-up (clocking, interrupts, memory layout, peripherals)

• Design clean, safe, and maintainable Rust abstractions

• Build async embedded applications using the Embassy framework

• Debug real hardware issues using JTAG, tracing, and lab equipment

• Contribute to design decisions and architecture of Rust-based components

• Work closely with local HW and SW teams on real product platforms

• Use modern tools (including AI) to reduce repetitive work and focus on system design, performance, and correctness

💻 Technical Knowledge – What You Bring

• 5+ years of embedded software experience (strong C and/or Rust background)

• Solid understanding of MCU architecture (ARM Cortex-M or similar)

• Experience with low-level debugging and peripherals

• Comfort working close to hardware (schematics, bring-up, lab work)

• Experience with Git and modern development workflows

Nice to have:

• Experience with Rust in embedded systems

• Exposure to async programming or RTOS concepts

• Familiarity with MCU SDKs (e.g., MCUXpresso)
