Job Description

This Financial Analyst supports the Digital Product group within Consumer & Business Banking. The role focuses on financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, expense management, reporting, capital expenditure management, ad hoc analysis, and process improvement. The analyst will support approximately two digital organizations and partner with leaders, developers, project managers, and other business partners on digital initiatives and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support business-line P&L activities with a primary focus on expense management, budgeting, monthly forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial analysis for expense allocation, business cases, peer group comparisons, capital expenditures, personnel resources, and ad hoc requests.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, financial and statistical models, dashboards, reports, and management presentations.
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities, data issues, and financial drivers; resolve reporting errors and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with business leaders and present financial results to senior leadership.
  • Use financial systems and large datasets to improve reporting, forecasting accuracy, workflows, and operational efficiency.
  • May assist with financial applications and prepare interest rate pricing and forecasting information for asset and liability management.
  • Participate in projects, occasionally lead projects, and independently identify issues and propose solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically six or more years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in finance or accounting.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and general accounting procedures, including forecasting, planning, budgeting, financial reporting, variance analysis, expense management, capital expenditures, and financial modeling.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using Essbase, Hyperion, or a similar financial planning system.
  • Experience working with financial systems and large datasets. Knowledge of data mining, visualization, dashboards, and automation is also preferred.
  • Ability to recognize trends, risks, opportunities, and exceptions in financial results. 
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business partners and communicating financial results to managers and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to independently identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Experience participating in projects and occasionally leading project work.

Location Expectations:

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
