A business analyst supports product owners and bridges business needs and delivery teams by translating priorities into requirements, providing context, and ensuring solutions align with business goals.
The IT Business Analyst for our Commercial & Sales Enablement – Salesforce team will combine business analysis and Salesforce expertise to translate business needs into effective, data-driven technology solutions that improve processes and deliver value. This role requires a mix of technical and nontechnical skills including strong business process knowledge and an understanding of Salesforce and related systems.
- Background & Domain Expertise
- Experience in the Salesforce product environment
- Domain knowledge including understanding of Salesforce and related technology, knowledge of industry trends, and familiarity with general manufacturing business strategy and goals
- Communication, Collaboration & Team Enablement
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Help agile development team members gain a deeper understanding of the business benefits and objectives behind each user story, feature and project
- Requirements & User Story Development
- Assists product owners with translation of business and customer objectives into specific requirements
- Writes user stories that require heavy business context
- Understands technical systems, data reference, entity relationship models, integration design, and can facilitate requirements elicitation on a technical level
- Assist with completing configuration on the platform
- May utilize background as a developer or experience with coding to help with solution requirements and build
- May produce wireframes to help validate user experience and solution design
- Scope, Change & Validation
- Facilitates scope change discussions and provides recommendations to product owners
- Assists product owners in validating that business requirements are met
- Stakeholder Partnership & Vendor Enablement
- Shares and documents business context and expertise with managed service providers (MSP) to assure business needs are met
- Creates a partnership with business counterparts and acts as an advisor on how to best create a solution for business outcomes
- Provides end user support and assist with training
- Assists with driving user adoption by collecting user feedback & guiding best practices for user experience
- Product Sustain & Support
- Supports performance reliability and minimization of technical debt through adherence to architecture best practices and technical specifications
- Ensures safeguarding of Salesforce and related systems by following security standards & best practices
The Skills You Will Bring:
Education and General Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, business, or another technical field)
- 4+ years of IT experience
- 1-3 years product management, business analysis, or other relevant technical or functional experience
- Salesforce certifications considered a plus
Functional Expertise and Experience
- Define system scope and objectives based on user needs and a strong understanding of business processes and industry requirements
- Supports business process redesign and documentation for new and enhanced technology solutions
- Translates high-level customer requirements into functional and/or technical specifications
- Understands end-to-end system behavior and downstream functional impacts based upon proposed changes to a system
- Educates IT teams on business direction, goals, and drivers behind requirements.
- Executes end-to-end systems analysis and evaluates how technology choices affect business outcomes today and in the future
- Leads or assist with user acceptance testing
