HID Global is seeking a Software Test Engineer for the IDT RTLS team in Brno who is responsible for maintaining and improving HID’s web applications to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for our customers. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to ensuring product quality in a distributed, cloud-based platform. As a QA engineer, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to validate features, uncover defects, and safeguard the reliability of mission‑critical services. As our Software QA Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Validating new features and enhancements by designing and executing high‑quality, traceable test scenarios
- Document findings, defects, and test outcomes clearly and consistently using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
- Applying established QA and agile best practices, including test planning, regression testing, peer collaboration, and iterative refinement
- Participating in recurring team ceremonies such as standups, planning sessions, and requirement or test‑case reviews
- Developing and maintaining the domain knowledge necessary to test platform components effectively
- Communicating test progress, risks, and overall product quality proactively to relevant stakeholders
- Diagnosing and clarifying issues through effective communication, structured investigation, and hands‑on testing across environments
- Supporting customer‑facing teams by verifying, reproducing, and documenting production‑related defects
- Leveraging insights from defects, incidents, and test results to improve test coverage and prevent future regressions
- Contributing to maintaining the stability and reliability of the platform through continuous regression testing and quality checks
- Keeping internal QA documentation, test cases, and knowledge bases accurate, organized, and valuable for the team
Your Experience and Background include:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing within an agile environment
- High proficiency in designing, executing, and documenting test cases, test plans, and test scenarios using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
- High proficiency with API testing and HTTP‑based service communication (REST, JSON, status codes, request/response flows)
- High proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines and traceable QA workflows
- Proficiency with debugging, reproducing, and documenting defects across distributed systems
- Proficiency with scripting or high‑level languages (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python) for test automation or reproducible test steps
- Proficiency with relational and non‑relational database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra)
- Ability to effectively communicate in Czech and English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work, focusing on production‑blocking or high‑impact issues first
- High proficiency validating features in a microservice architecture
- High proficiency testing applications deployed on public cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
- High proficiency working with metrics, logs, or monitoring tools to support defect investigation (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch etc.)
- Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) from a testing perspective
- Experience with both automated testing (API or integration) and manual exploratory testing
- Experience with cloud and on‑prem deployment environments
