Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead luxury custom residential construction projects throughout the Santa Rosa area. This role is responsible for managing high-end custom homes from preconstruction through final completion, ensuring each project is delivered with exceptional quality, organization, and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate has a proven background in luxury custom home construction and is comfortable managing complex, long-duration projects involving homeowners, architects, designers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams. This position requires strong leadership, communication, financial management, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage luxury custom residential projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate closely with homeowners, architects, designers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for scope, constructability, sequencing, and coordination.
- Track project progress and proactively address schedule, budget, quality, and construction challenges.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor performance to maintain project timelines and quality expectations.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients and project stakeholders throughout all phases of construction.
- Support field operations by coordinating resources, providing timely information, and resolving construction issues.
- Ensure work meets contractual requirements, design intent, company quality standards, and client expectations.
- Maintain accurate project records, meeting minutes, schedules, forecasts, and progress reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, trade partners, design professionals, and internal team members.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing luxury custom residential construction projects.
- Strong understanding of custom home construction methods, project sequencing, building systems, and high-end finishes.
- Experience managing custom residential projects from preconstruction through final completion.
- Experience with projects in the $5M–$25M range is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing complex, long-duration construction projects, typically 16–30 months.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and related documentation.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, change orders, and client expectations.
- Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
- Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to work effectively with discerning homeowners and design professionals.
- Stable employment history demonstrating successful, long-term project management experience.
- Ability to work primarily on-site throughout the Santa Rosa area.
- Local candidates or candidates within a reasonable commuting distance are strongly preferred.
- Candidates with primarily commercial construction experience and limited custom residential experience may not be the best fit.
Compensation & Benefits
