Full description

Gorilla Logic delivers software engineering and consulting services for enterprise-scale web, mobile, and cloud applications.

- This position is open to candidates located in Colombia or Costa Rica only -

The Solution Architect plays a critical role in shaping and evolving cloud-enabled application architecture to deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and business-aligned solutions. This hands-on role combines technical roadmapping, solution design, independent research, application development, and close collaboration with engineering teams and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines strong .NET and Azure expertise with practical architecture thinking, modern DevOps and infrastructure-as-code experience, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. This person can move between strategic architecture and hands-on delivery, turn ambiguous challenges into well- supported recommendations, and help define executable work for others.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Delivery

  • Define technical roadmaps and architecture strategies for cloud migration, application modernization, and

scalable digital solutions.

  • Design secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available systems that align technical decisions with business

objectives.

  • Balance long-term architecture direction with hands-on development, prototyping, technical validation, and

delivery support.

  • Research architecture options, evaluate tradeoffs and risks, and present clear recommendations to

engineering teams and stakeholders.

  • Produce architecture diagrams, decision records, technical plans, and system representations that make complex designs easy to understand.
  • Translate architecture into executable work by helping define epics, features, stories, dependencies, and

technical sequencing.

  • Design security-first solutions that protect customer and enterprise data, support compliance, and reduce

operational risk.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineering leaders, product partners, and business stakeholders to align

solutions with enterprise standards and delivery priorities.

Database and Performance Optimization

  • Design data and integration architectures that support scalability, reliability, maintainability, and future

growth.

  • Write and review advanced SQL, data models, indexing strategies, and query plans to improve application

and database performance.

  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks across applications, services, integrations, and databases.
  • Design APIs, third-party and vendor integrations, and synchronous or asynchronous communication

patterns.

  • Define service boundaries, integration contracts, versioning approaches, error-handling strategies, and data

integrity controls.

  • Support distributed and event-driven solutions using technologies such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or

RabbitMQ.

Cloud and DevOps

  • Design and support solutions in Microsoft Azure using secure, scalable, and repeatable cloud patterns.
  • Help migrate applications and services from on-premises environments to Azure.
  • Define and improve application onboarding patterns that enable engineering teams to move workloads into

the cloud consistently.

  • Use infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling, including Bicep, Helm, GitHub Enterprise, and GitHub

Actions workflows.

  • Apply Agile and DevOps practices to improve delivery quality, deployment reliability, collaboration, and

continuous improvement.

  • Promote observability, resilience, fault isolation, secure configuration, and operational readiness across

cloud solutions.

  • Partner with engineers to troubleshoot architecture, environment, integration, deployment, and operational

issues.

Full-Stack Development

  • Design and build backend services using C#, .NET, .NET Core, Web APIs, web applications, and service-

based architectures.

  • Remain close enough to the code to validate designs, support implementation, and contribute hands-on

when needed.

  • Build and support modern front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks such as

Vue.js, React, or Angular.

  • Design and evaluate authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and

modern identity platforms.

  • Support identity-provider modernization by researching alternatives, evaluating constraints, and

recommending secure transition paths.

  • Promote clean, maintainable, testable code and sound engineering practices across the software

development lifecycle.

  • Support modernization of legacy applications and the evolution of monolithic systems toward appropriate

modular, service-based, distributed, or event-driven designs.

Mentorship and Team Development

  • Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and technical

discussions.

  • Bring ideas forward, encourage constructive brainstorming, and help teams evaluate multiple solution

options.

  • Communicate proactively and clearly in a distributed, cross-functional environment.
  • Influence stakeholders and align technical decisions with business objectives, customer needs, delivery

constraints, and risk considerations.

  • Research unfamiliar technical areas independently and share findings in a clear, actionable way.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, curiosity, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

preferred.

  • 8 to 10 years of software development experience, including technical leadership or architecture

responsibilities.

  • 2 or more years of experience creating technical roadmaps and presenting architectural solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and developing solutions with C#, .NET, .NET Core, Web APIs, and

the broader Microsoft technology stack.

  • Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including cloud migration, cloud-native solution design, and application

modernization.

  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and delivery automation, including Bicep, Helm, GitHub
  • Enterprise, and GitHub Actions or comparable tooling.
  • Experience designing secure authentication and authorization solutions and working with identity standards

such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.

  • Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous communication, and event-driven architecture.
  • Strong understanding of API design, third-party integrations, SQL development, data modeling, indexing,

and performance optimization.

  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one modern front-end framework such as Vue.js,

React, or Angular.

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments with a focus on quality, automation, collaboration,

and continuous delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to research unfamiliar technical areas independently, evaluate alternatives, and present

clear recommendations.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical

concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills, including mentoring engineers, influencing stakeholders, and

guiding work without relying solely on formal authority.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience modernizing identity providers or migrating authentication platforms to cloud environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes-based environments and Helm-managed deployments.
  • Experience with Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing applications or solutions operating in security-sensitive or regulated

environments.

  • Experience decomposing legacy or monolithic applications into modular, service-based, or event-driven

architectures.

  • Azure architecture or development certifications.
  • Exposure to additional cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.

Behavioral and Leadership Expectations

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex architectural concepts to technical and

non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to structure and articulate reasoning in a logical, easy-to-follow manner.
  • Collaborative and approachable team player who contributes positively to team culture.
  • Proactive problem solver with curiosity and determination in tackling complex or ambiguous challenges.
  • Customer-focused and security-conscious mindset with strong attention to quality, maintainability, testability,

and operational risk.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment in complex technical environments.
  • Hands-on leadership style that stays connected to implementation and engineering reality.
