Job Description

Ever wondered what it feels like to be a Senior Data Engineer in Netcompany ?

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support the migration of data from relational databases to a cloud-based database/data platform. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with relational databases, together with experience in cloud and distributed data technologies.

As a Senior Data Engineer you will:

• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to migrate data from relational databases to cloud platforms.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
• Analyze existing relational database structures and create source-to-target mappings for migration.
• Design and implement appropriate data models in the target cloud environment.
• Develop and maintain Apache Airflow DAGs for automated data pipelines and migration workflows.
• Use Python for data transformation, automation, validation, and migration activities.
• Perform data quality checks, reconciliation, and troubleshooting throughout the migration process.
• Work with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud databases/data warehouses.
• Use Apache Spark/PySpark and Hadoop where required for large-scale data processing.
• Collaborate with database, cloud, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure a smooth and reliable migration.

Qualifications

What would make you a fit for the role: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• 5-10 years of solid data engineering experience
• Good SQL and Python, with experience in ELT/ETL, data modelling, Spark and workflow orchestration.
• Hands-on with at least one major cloud data platform — Azure, AWS or Databricks — including data lake / lakehouse design.
• Git and basic CI/CD knowledge
• Good interpersonal skills, adaptive and team player
• Fluency in the English language
• Ability to travel within Europe, once every 2 months for approximately 2-3 days at a time.
