About the role

As the Founding Mobile Engineer, you will build the mobile product from the ground up and own the entire mobile architecture and development process. You will manage the end-to-end application lifecycle, including builds, store submissions, and OTA updates.

As our Founding Mobile Engineer, you'll build our mobile product from the ground up and own everything mobile. We're looking for someone with strong Expo experience who has built and shipped production apps, understands mobile architecture and has hands-on experience with the Expo Application Services (EAS) build and release pipeline, App Store and Google Play submissions and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

 

This is an intense, hands-on role with full ownership. We expect you to push for excellence and raise the bar.

 

📍 Location: Remote with overlap to our New York City HQ (EST)

 

Where you'll create impact

  • Set up and own the mobile architecture and development process those other developers to come
  • Eventually manage a team
  • Control from end-to-end the application procedure and code practices
  • Manage builds, store submission, OTA updates, releases

 

What sets you up for success

  • Hardcore work ethic and high agency
  • shipped and maintained at least one production app end-to-end
  • at least +4 years with React Native (or native iOS/Android + fast RN ramp) with Expo experience
  • At least +5 years with Typescript
  • Comfortable with Expo + EAS (Build, Submit, Update)
  • Owned a full store release cycle: signing/provisioning, TestFlight (iOS) & internal tracks, review back-and-forth
  • Solid mobile perf instincts (Hermes is a nice to have)

nice-to-have:

  • Shipped something with real scale (offline-first, 100k+ users)
  • Has written or patched a native module (Swift/Kotlin)
  • iOS development experience
