Senior Data Engineer – Consulting Assignment
Are you an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in Databricks and modern cloud-based data platforms? We at WeQuel are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer for a long-term consulting assignment with one of our clients in Södertälje. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled data engineering team where you will play a key role in developing scalable data platforms, strengthening data governance, and enabling data-driven innovation.
As a consultant with us, you will have the opportunity to work with some of our clients who are leading companies within the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, contributing to process optimization, implementation of new technologies, and the development of sustainable solutions.
About the Role:
In this role, you will join a team responsible for developing and maintaining modern data platforms that make operational data accessible, secure, and valuable for analytics, machine learning, and business development. You will take a leading role in evolving the organization's Databricks platform, designing scalable data pipelines, and strengthening governance capabilities across the data ecosystem.
Working closely with Data Engineers, Developers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and business stakeholders, you will transform technical and business requirements into production-ready data products while ensuring high standards for quality, governance, and security.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms and data pipelines with a strong focus on Databricks
- Drive improvements to the existing Databricks platform, architecture, and capabilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL and data pipelines for large-scale operational data
- Design and implement data governance models, metadata management, and data catalog capabilities
- Ensure high standards for data quality, governance, discoverability, security, and compliance
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for Databricks and related cloud services
- Build automated, reliable, and reproducible platform environments
- Design technical solutions for complex data engineering and platform challenges
- Collaborate closely with Developers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and business stakeholders
- Translate technical and business requirements into governed and production-ready data products
- Contribute to the continuous development, operation, and maintenance of the organization's data platform
We are looking for someone who:
- Has several years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Platform Engineer, or in a similar senior data engineering role
- Holds a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or has equivalent relevant experience
- Has strong hands-on experience working with Databricks and Apache Spark
- Has proven experience using Databricks in production environments
- Has strong experience working with cloud-based data platforms, preferably AWS
- Has strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Has experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL and data pipelines
- Has experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Databricks and related cloud infrastructure
- Has a strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data discoverability
- Has experience designing scalable, secure, and robust data platform solutions
- Has a strong understanding of modern data platform architecture and data engineering best practices
- Has experience implementing governance capabilities in complex data environments
- Can independently drive technical improvements and solve complex platform and data engineering challenges
- Has experience collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders
- Has strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Can translate business and technical requirements into scalable, production-ready technical solutions
- Is fluent in English, both written and spoken
