As we scale and modernize our platform, we need a Senior PHP Developer to help us build the next generation of our backend systems, while keeping the business running smoothly today.

You'll join an existing backend team and take real ownership of key services: from APIs that connect us to global travel partners, to internal platforms that power our operations. You'll also play an active role in our migration from legacy PHP systems towards a modern, business-aligned, service-based architecture, a journey that's already underway, and that you'll help accelerate.

This is not a role where you wait for someone to tell you what to do. You'll work autonomously, bring your own ideas, and flag issues before they become problems. When something goes wrong in production, we don't look for someone to blame. We look at what failed in the system and how to fix it together.

What you will do Backend Development & Delivery

• Design, build, and maintain robust new PHP8.5+ services and APIs serving both internal teams and external partners.
• Maintain existing legacy PHP/.NET systems, responding to any development needed on production services.
• Take end-to-end ownership of your work: from technical design and implementation through to testing, deployment, and monitoring in production.
• Be a team player. Understand and support your colleagues, just as you share your knowledge and get support from them.
• Contribute to the progressive migration of legacy PHP/.NET systems to modern services, applying pragmatic, incremental strategies that minimize risk.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party partners, ensuring reliability, clarity of contracts, and effective error handling.
• Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and participate actively in code reviews.

Architecture & Platform Evolution

• Contribute to the evolution of our service-based architecture, proposing patterns, identifying improvements, and helping establish shared standards across the backend team.
• Help ensure our systems are scalable, observable, and maintain able as we grow.

Collaboration & Culture

• Work within a small backend team that communicates openly in a safe space, moves fast, and helps each other. We run a brief daily and work asynchronously most of the rest of the time.
• Proactively communicate blockers, risks, and progress. We don't expect perfection; we expect transparency.
• Bring curiosity about the business, not just the code. Understanding why something matters to the customer or to operations makes you a better engineer here.

Current Stack

• Backend: PHP, .NET
• Frontend: Next.js
• Infrastructure: K8s, AWS, Cloudflare.
• Data: MySQL, DynamoDB and Redis.
• Monitoring: New Relic, Grafana Stack.
• There are legacy projects that we want to move forward, so we’re progressively moving to a composable, scalable architecture, with continuous delivery and improved observability.

About You

• 7+ years of experience as a backend developer, with strong PHP expertise (thin-framework or framework-less REST APIs).
• Fluent in English – Additional languages are a plus!
• Solid understanding of software architecture patterns: HTTP services, service decomposition, API design.
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL or similar),caching layers (Redis or similar), and queues (SQS or similar).
• Hands-on experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• A track record of owning your work end-to-end: you see things through, flag problems early, and take responsibility when things don't go as planned.

It would be a plus if you also have:

• Knowledge of .NET. Reading and navigating some .NET code bases is a real part of this role.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (New Relic, Grafana, or similar).
• Previous exposure to the travel, transport, or e-commerce sector.
