We are looking for a senior data platform engineer that will be part of the central team that develops and is responsible for our data - and analytics platform. The position is in Storebrand’s Center of Excellence for Data & AI. This business unit is placed centrally in the Storebrand Group and has responsibility and ownership of processes that spans the different business units of Storebrand.

About the team!

You will be joining the platform-team which is responsible for creating a scalable and high-quality data- and analytics platform that accommodate Storebrand's evolving data and analytical needs. We distribute ownership and our goal is that the data teams across Storebrand have a high degree of self-service when it comes to working with data and AI.

As a senior data platform engineer, you will play a central role in designing and creating a superior developer experience across best-of-breed tools for scaling our data platform. Responsibilities include creating frameworks, infrastructure, systems integration, and building data pipelines. Your focus will extend to enabling data teams to build self-service data products while ensuring high standards for security and compliance.

Our tech stack

You will be working with a wide range of modern tools and technology. We are multi-cloud with both Azure and Google Cloud. Core Components of the data platform include Snowflake, Dagster+ for orchestration, dbt Cloud for data transformation and DLT for data ingestion. Supporting tools include Github for version control, Terraform for infrastructure as code, Kubernetes as a container platform, Databricks for advanced analytics and PowerBI as our enterprise reporting tool.

What you will be doing

At Storebrand, you can look forward to a work environment with a high degree of variety. You will take the lead in building frameworks for data engineering at scale supporting 100+ developers across all areas of the Storebrand Group. A typical week will encompass a diverse set of tasks:

  • Making our data teams more efficient by building and evolving our frameworks for data ingestion, orchestration, data apps, and infrastructure on top of our data platform.
  • Experimenting with, building with and improving the way we use AI and AI-agents on our platform to help us and the data teams scale.
  • Engage in ongoing development and maintenance of our data platform ensuring robust, secure and compliant secure data platform.
  • Take responsibility for developing data products within the data platform team, emphasizing data observability and monitoring.
  • Act as a key resource and technical advisor for data engineers across Storebrand helping with their operational and analytical needs.
  • Maintain close contact with users ensuring a clear understanding of the needs and challenges when onboarding to our platform. 

Who are you?

You likely hold a technical degree and possess a genuine curiosity for working with data and technology. You want to take ownership of a modern data platform, and you enjoy working in a small team while serving many users. You must be pragmatic while being able to take ownership of what you build, but you don’t compromise on security and compliance.

As for the technical side, proficiency in Python and/or other programming languages, as well as SQL, is crucial. You have hands-on with AI-tools like Claude Code or Github Copilot and know their strengths and weaknesses. Experience with infrastructure as code and system integrations is a plus. Hands-on experience with technologies like Snowflake, Azure, Kubernetes, Databricks, Github, Terraform, dbt, and Dagster is beneficial but not mandatory.
