Position Overview

Zedcor is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to deploy, operate, and mature security tooling across Azure, Azure Local, Windows, Linux, and AKS environments. This is not an entry-level role. The successful candidate will own hands-on deployment and daily operation of vulnerability management, threat detection, and data protection platforms while supporting SOC 2, FedRAMP, and StateRAMP readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must have a valid CDL Class A license with at least 2 years of experience. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. 
  • Working knowledge of DOT Hours of Service cycle and experience with ELD use. 
  • Forklift, equipment, telehandler, and front-end loader experience is a strong plus. 
  • Mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, or general technical ability is a big plus. 
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and performing hands-on work, not just driving. 
  • Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to follow company procedures. 
  • Some travel may be required, usually no more than 2 nights at a time and working hours range from 40 to 70 hours per week. 
  • Be able to lift 70 pounds and working in changing weather conditions.  

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Install, deploy, and operate Tenable Vulnerability Management, including scanning, reporting, and remediation tracking.
  • Administer Microsoft Purview for data security, classification, DLP, and compliance.· Deploy and manage IDS/IPS capabilities, including Defender for IoT and Defender for Cloud Apps.
  • Implement and support 802.1X network authentication.
  • Secure workloads across Azure, Azure Local, AKS, Windows Server, and Linux.
  • Document security architectures, configurations, standards, and runbooks.
  • Follow ITIL change management and support incident response, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness for SOC 2, FedRAMP, and StateRAMP.
  • Engineer and maintain centralized logging, alerting, and security telemetry.
  • Manage Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies and monitoring.
  • Support, tune, and troubleshoot Microsoft Sentinel, including analytics rules, incidents, and log ingestion issues.
  • Run and monitor Microsoft Defender EASM (External Attack Surface Management) and drive remediation of exposed assets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating Tenable or a comparable vulnerability management platform.· Experience securing Azure, Azure Local, and AKS/container environments.
  • Working knowledge of IDS/IPS, WAF, 802.1X, PKI, and centralized logging.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues under pressure.
  • Experience with ITIL change management and regulated environments (SOC 2, FedRAMP, StateRAMP, or similar).
  • Strong Windows Server and Linux security hardening experience.
  • Strong Microsoft security stack experience: Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Defender for IoT, Defender for Cloud Apps, Defender EASM, and Purview.
  • Local Houston-area candidate able to work in office 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CISSP, Security+, SC-200, AZ-500, Tenable, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting a SOC and incident response operations.
