A to Z Tree and Turf builds high-end landscape renovation and installation projects for luxury builders, custom homeowners, and HOA communities across the Valley, jobs that run from $250,000 to over $1 million. Our Construction Manager needs a right hand in the field.
If you've run crews on large landscape installs, know how to sequence a job so nothing sits idle, and take it personally when a project falls behind or comes back with a punch list? This is your seat. You'll spend your day on jobsites, not behind a desk.
What You'll Do
Run the jobs in the field
- Serve as the day-to-day field leader on multiple active construction projects, reporting to the Construction/Install Manager
- Walk every active jobsite daily set the plan for the day, confirm crews have what they need, and clear obstacles before they cost a day
- Build and hold the production schedule: sequence grading, hardscape, irrigation, lighting, planting, and finish work so crews and subs aren't stacked on top of each other
- Read plans and specs and make sure what's being built matches what was sold
Lead the foremen and crews
- Direct multiple construction foremen and their crews; set daily expectations and hold the standard
- Verify daily production and time reporting is accurate and turned in
- Train foremen on layout, sequencing, install standards, and safety
- Enforce jobsite safety and keep sites clean, organized, and presentable
Own quality and completion
- Inspect work in progress, don't wait for the walkthrough to find the problem
- Run the punch list to zero and lead the final walk with the Construction Manager
- Confirm irrigation, drainage, and lighting are installed and tested right the first time
Keep the job on plan
- Track labor hours, material usage, and production against the job's budget, and flag variances to the Construction Manager early
- Identify field conditions or scope changes that need a change order, and get them to the Construction Manager before the work is done, not after
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and subcontractor scheduling with the Construction Administrator/Procurement Coordinator
- Verify field conditions and quantities against the estimate at job handoff, and tell the Construction Manager fast when the plan and the dirt don't match
Represent A to Z on site
- You're the face of the company to builders, superintendents, homeowners, and HOA representatives on the jobsite
- Communicate clearly and professionally; escalate client concerns to the Construction Manager rather than letting them sit
- Document progress with photos and daily field reports
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in landscape construction or hardscape installation, including 2+ years leading crews or running jobsites as a foreman, superintendent, or assistant PM
- Experience on landscape renovation/installation projects in the $250K+ range, you've seen what goes wrong on a big job and know how to get ahead of it
- Able to read and work from landscape plans, irrigation plans, grading plans, and specs
- Working knowledge across the trades we self-perform: grading and drainage, hardscape and masonry, irrigation, low-voltage lighting, and planting of trees, shrubs, and turf
- Proven ability to schedule and sequence multiple crews and subs at once
- Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record (trucks and trailers)
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, you'll lead Spanish-speaking crews and talk to English-speaking clients on the same walk
- Comfortable with scheduling, photo documentation, and job tracking on a phone or laptop
- Excellent attendance and follow-through, when you say it's handled, it's handled
- Able to be on your feet on active jobsites in Arizona weather throughout the day
