Position: Data Analyst Engineer

As an IT Data Analyst at Nexttec Technology Outsourcing, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that will drive business decisions and strategies. You will work closely with our clients to understand their data needs and provide them with actionable insights to improve their business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Job Duties of an IT Data Analyst
- Collaboration with Business and IT Teams
- Work with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and analytical requirements.
- Partner with data engineers and IT teams to ensure data availability and integrity for analysis.
- Provide recommendations to optimize business processes based on analytical findings.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Use statistical methods and tools to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
- Translate business questions into analytical frameworks and provide data-driven solutions.
- Data Collection and Preparation
- Gather data from various internal and external sources, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with analytics/data engineers to access/utilize data from pipelines and warehouses.
- Perform data preparation and validation using available datasets.
- Reporting and Visualization
- Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decision-making across domains (Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales etc.).
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Implement and ensure data governance & compliance in all Power BI artifacts.
- Collaborate with the business/BI Team to standardize visuals, KPIs, and data definitions.
- Collaborate with BI teams to ensure data models align with reporting requirements and performance goals.
5. Data Quality and Validation
- Monitor data quality and consistency, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Implement validation checks to ensure the reliability of analytical outputs.
- Support data governance initiatives by adhering to established standards and policies.
6. Performance Monitoring and Optimization
- Analyze the performance of business metrics and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues affecting reporting or analytical processes.
7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Document analytical methodologies, data sources, and report specifications for reference.
- Share insights and best practices with team members to foster a data-driven culture.
- Maintain a repository of analytical assets for future use.
- Support business users in self-service BI, promote usage of standardized datasets.
8. Stay Updated on Analytical Trends
- Keep abreast of advancements in data analytics, visualization tools, and industry best practices.
- Explore and recommend new tools or techniques to enhance analytical capabilities.
9. Support Business Intelligence Initiatives
- Assist BI teams in leveraging data for strategic decision-making.
- Provide analytical support for ad-hoc requests and long-term business intelligence projects.
10. AI-Enabled Analytics & Productivity
- Leverage AI-powered capabilities within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI (e.g., Copilot) to accelerate data exploration, insight generation, report development
- Use AI tools to generate initial analysis hypotheses summarize trends and anomalies
- enhance storytelling in reports
- Validate and refine AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, business relevance, alignment with approved KPIs
- Collaborate with BI team to identify opportunities for AI-driven insights, natural language querying, automation of repetitive reporting tasks
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) preferred, Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) is a plus.
Field of Experience:
- Data Processing: Basic understanding of ETL processes and data preparation techniques.
- Data Analysis: Proven experience in analyzing datasets and generating actionable insights.
- Business Intelligence: Proven experience with BI tools and reporting platforms.
- Data Visualization: Hands-on experience creating dashboards/visual representations of data.
- Data Modeling: Experience designing data models to support reporting and analytics.
- Database Querying: Proficiency in working with relational databases and querying tools.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Proficiency translating business needs into analytical solutions.
- AI & Advanced Analytics: Exposure to AI-assisted analytics or automation tools in reporting and data analysis
Years of Experience:
- Typically, 3 to 7 years of experience in data analysis or a related IT field.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience with data visualization tools, SQL querying, and business intelligence reporting.
Technical Skills:
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in SQL for querying databases; familiarity with Python or R for data analysis and modeling is a plus.
- Data Visualization Tools: Advanced proficiency in Power BI. Tableau, Looker is a plus.
- Database Knowledge: Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) and data warehouses (e.g., Synapse, Big Query).
- Power BI:
Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including dataflows, datasets, measures, and report development.
- Data Transformation: Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for report-level calculations.
- Microsoft Fabric: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric components (Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, OneLake, Data Pipelines) and their integration with Power BI.
- AI & Advanced Analytics: Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics tools such as Power BI Copilot, Natural language query features. Ability to use AI tools to enhance productivity while maintaining analytical accuracy.
