Job Purpose

The Auto Strategic Planning Senior Analyst uses analytical skills and decision-making capabilities to support Business Strategy by conducting research and providing deep analysis of the overall market, consumers and competitors. This position also supports Strategic Planning with deep analysis of market opportunities and sales volume planning. The Sr Analyst develops business cases for new model lineup planning to support larger APS strategy and provides support on qualitative and quantitative research needs for the APS division.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Data Analysis – Generate and analyze large data sets and develop key insights from the data relevant to identification of the target customers.
  • Provide support to translate data / key insights into narratives and generate reports targeted to different stakeholders - engineers, designers, analysts and executives.
  • Strategic Planning and Sales Volume Planning – Support strategic planning and sales volume planning by developing business cases studies for model lineup planning.
  • Develop sales volume targets to incorporate into the larger sales volume planning process.
  • Research – Research market and consumers, developing key insights relevant to the problems and determining ways to attain the market.
  • Research projects including desk research, focus groups or clinics or on-line quantitative surveys.
  • Utilizing experience, judgement, and knowledge of the subject matter, advise the staff on creative matters to ensure the final product output matches the original intention and targets.
  • Supports department leader on corporate objectives with critical information for how to compete in the future.
  • Supports department leader with long-term department vision and department goals to achieve Division targets.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree is required, ideally with a major in business, marketing, economics or related field.
  • MBA is a plus.

Minimum Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience doing analysis, ideally with an automotive OEM.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the area of product planning, product development or brand management is preferred.

Other Job-Specific Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the automotive industry, products and technology.
  • Possess critical thinking, business judgement, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Good knowledge of macroeconomic factors that impact the industry.
  • Advanced MS Office skills required, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate ideation/concept generation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong consumer research and analysis skills, including statistical analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of planning tools such as MTAB, PIN, etc.
