Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to leverage their expertise in designing and implementing integrated, scalable on-premises platforms in support of our government customer in Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Network Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with systems architects to design, implement, and optimize customer networks IAW ICD 503
  • Design and deploy functional networks (e.g. LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Investigating and resolving operational problems.
  • Working on teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases
  • Plan and lead network projects for network installation and upgrade
  • Responsible for all network data transport (Layer 3 and below) and overall network traffic routing
  • Manage IP address space allocation and track IP address permanent assignments
  • Create and implement network security measures (access authentication, STIG implementation, etc.)
  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain firewalls.
  • Monitor syslog events and implement changes to improve security posture.
  • Work with systems administrators, cyber security officers and CNDSP
  • Assist cyber security officers to collect and report information required during RMF A&A activities.
  • Conduct regular network performance tests.
  • Resolve escalated network support issues and document resolution
  • Research and analyze new network technologies and present suggestions for upgrades for network

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance w/current Polygraph required
  • U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining a clearance
  • Bachelors degree and 9+ years of relevant networking experience
  • DoD 8140 IAT II Level certification (e.g. Security+ CE, GSEC, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, CND, SSCP)
  • At least 8 years working with Juniper and Cisco routers and switches, firewalls deployment, configuration, and migration
  • Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/ designs, and best practices

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $160,000.00/Yr. - USD $190,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
