Job Purpose

As a Developer within the ICE Bonds unit, you will help design, modernize and deliver high-performance fixed income trading platforms that support scalable market connectivity, resilient workflow automation and reliable transaction processing. This role is suited for a developer who can turn complex trading and technology requirements into production-ready solutions that advance ICE Bonds’ next-generation platform strategy.

The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, self-motivated and effective in a fast-paced environment where quality, reliability and delivery discipline are essential. You will collaborate frequently with project managers, product managers, developers, QA and stakeholders across ICE business units to deliver world-class trading capabilities for fixed income market participants.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions for fixed income trading workflows.
  • Deliver high-quality, production-ready code that supports reliability, performance and timely release commitments.
  • Partner with product management, project management, QA and engineering teams to align scope, design, testing and delivery.
  • Plan and estimate development work for key components, applications and systems with clear delivery accountability.
  • Contribute to component and service designs that fit within existing architecture while improving scalability, resilience and maintainability.
  • Analyze, design, code, test, debug, modify and implement system requirements using sound engineering judgment and standard practices.
  • Understand complex business logic in existing systems and migrate it thoughtfully to modern technologies and platform patterns.
  • Support business feature, regression and integration testing in collaboration with business analysts and QA analysts.
  • Work effectively in an agile, continuous integration environment with strong command of SDLC tools and practices.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience developing with Java technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of core server-side development technologies:
  • Java and object-oriented design principles, including design patterns
  • Spring-based server-side application development
  • Distributed messaging technologies, including JMS
  • Relational databases, SQL, JDBC and transactional processing
  • Multi-threaded server-side development and service-oriented architecture
  • Use of AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, to improve development productivity, code review and testing discipline
  • Able to work productively under pressure, and multi-task effectively
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent priorities with strong execution discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team environment

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience at a financial institution (major bank, hedge fund, prop shop) in their financial markets’ technology departments
  • Working knowledge of fixed income trading, CDS markets or related electronic trading workflows
