What You Can Expect

The Engineering Associate Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional operational initatives while overseeing engineering performance, process improvement, and project execution across assigned profit centers or sites. This role combines strategic project management leadership with hands-on engineering management to ensure operational excellence, technical robustness, quality compliance and delivery of business objectives. 

The position leads the planning, execution, governance, and sustainment of complex projects, including process development, equipment enhancement, change management, budget control, and implementation support. The role partners closely with Operations, Quality, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and other business leaders to align priorities, optimize resources, improve manufacturing capability, and deliver projects on time, within budget, and within scope. 

This leader is also responsible for developing project engineering talent, strengthening project management discipline, advancing portfolio and continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring that all activities support company strategy while maintaining the highest standards of safety, ethics, quality and regulatory compliance. 

How You'll Create Impact

  • Lead small-to-medium manufacturing transfer projects from initiation through implementation and post-launch support. May personally lead as many as 3-5 projects. 
  • Develop, maintain, and govern project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and perfromance metrics for assigned initiatives. 
  • Monitor and communicate project status, process performance, key risks, and budget performance through regular reviews and leadership updates. 
  • Proactively identify, mitigate ,escalate, and resolve issues that may affect process performance, project timing, cost, quality, or scope. 
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for manufacturing and product performance issues. 
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets for capital projects and manufacturing cost improvement activities while supporting efficient resource utilization. 
  • Lead and develop technical teams, which may include principal engineers, senior engineers, engineers, technicians, CNC and etch programmers, and tool engineers. 

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Strong leadership capability in manufacturing engineering and cross-functional project execution. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives with multiple stakeholers, competing priorities, and measurable business impact. 
  • Knowledge of end-of-line manufacturing operations, process development, equipment systems, validation practices, and quality procedures. 
  • Understanding of change management, SOPs, engineering specifications, work instructions, and regulated operating practices. 
  • Advanced problem-solving ability using qyality, statistical, root cause, and continuous imrpovement tools. 
  • Ability to establish credibility and build effective working relationships across functions, levels, and sites. 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to convey technical and business concepts clearly to leadership and frontline teams. 
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, timelines, and performance metrics. 
  • Strong team development, coaching, and performance management skills. 
  • Working knowledge of PLM, ERP, and related business management systems, as well as the medical device industry and regulated manufacturing environment, is strongly preferred. 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in another field with relevant certifications and related experience may be considered. 
  • At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, quality, and/ or regulatory compliance required. 
  • Experience supporting cleaning, packaging, validation, or other regulated manufacturing processes is preferred. 
  • Prior experience leading projects and coordinating cross-functional initiatives is required. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PLM, ERP, and project management tools is required. Lean or SIx Sigma training or certification is preferred. 

Travel Expectations

  • Up to 10%, based on business needs 

Expected Compensation Range

  • $111,000 - $138,000
