Summary

The Product Engineering Manager – Electrical is responsible for managing the electrical product engineering team and for leading electrical product engineering for the Stirred Mill product group. The key functions of the Product Engineering Manager - Electrical are to provide expert technical support on stirred mill drive trains and controls packages; manage and develop a team of dedicated stirred mill electrical engineers; develop and improve standard processes for engineering delivery and productization efforts; and provide on-site commissioning and troubleshooting support for mill deliveries as required. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive technical and managerial leadership for the Stirred Mill electrical department, with overall responsibility for the electrical standards, architecture and direction of the products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the manager for the electrical product design and engineering team in the Stirred Mill product group, reporting to the VP, Stirred Mills.
  • Work with electrical engineers in the Stirred Mill product group to ensure Tier 1 engineering competence for drive train and control systems
  • Conceptualize, lead and execute R&D and continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of electrical and control systems packages
  • Own and update electrical engineering standards, design governance, and technical review processes for the Stirred Mill product group
  • Collaborate with other Grinding BL electrical engineering departments to ensure harmonization of standards and processes
  • Drive the development and improvement of engineering delivery systems
  • Take an active role in Stirred Mill product group leadership team, including contributing to product strategy and product development
  • Develop and mentor junior engineers
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will manage a team of engineers and technicians both in Baden and remotely.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering and control system design.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Detailed understanding of electrical power systems and control system design, including motors, drives, MCCs, E-houses, transformers, and HV switchgear
  • English proficiency essential; ability to speak German is a plus
  • Experience leading a dynamic engineering team
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry best practices
  • Experience with E-Plan and Enovia PLM systems is a plus
  • Ability to adapt and manage change, particularly in the areas of productization, standardization, and product lifecycle management
  • Effective customer relations and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a bias for action
  • Highly motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to successfully drive change initiatives to realization
  • Highly organized and able to multitask and prioritize various activities to ensure timely and accurate compliance with schedule and budget requirements.
  • In depth knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Office products

Essential Physical Job Functions and Work Environment

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about an industrial mining jobsite including walking, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling through restricted man holes. Occasionally this is required at high elevations (>3,000 masl) and in adverse weather.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

Required to move and carry equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds across industrial mining jobsite.
