System Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, security, integrity, and design of all SQL database installations. Manages backup and recovery, interfaces, upgrades, and alerts for all assigned systems. Leads the development of stored procedures, functions or other objects as required to create solutions that solve complex business problems.
Job Responsibilities:
Database Management and Administration
- Provides day-to-day operational support for all assigned databases and platforms
- Lead design and implementation of new installations to support approved projects and initiatives
- Perform needed database management by monitoring and maintaining assigned systems; including backup & recovery, updates, patches, hotfixes and working with the Systems Engineering team to plan for additional capacity as needed to meet the business need
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures needed for the maintenance and continuity of assigned systems
Solution Development and Projects
- Assist with solution design, including database schema, developing stored procedures & functions, and SQL query tuning using the SQL server toolset
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain system interfaces needed to streamline and automate business processes
- Develop and maintain documentation of all developed solutions
- Coordinate with cross-functional initiatives toward project completion while maintaining Global standards and practices
Mentor and Support Team
- Provide advanced technical support for IT Systems Engineers, Support Engineers, and Service Desk
- Mentor team members to ensure cross-training for assigned systems and applications
Specific Requirements
- Strong command of Microsoft SQL Server and the SQL server toolset
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
- Thorough understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
- Ability to work effectively and take a leadership role in an international, multi-cultural team environment
- Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills; Ability to leverage working independently and as part of a group to achieve desired outcomes
- Strong time management and workload management skills are essential
Skill Requirements
Must have experience with Manufacturing Systems, including but not limited to LIMS, PI, and Aspen Tech.
Education and Experience
- S. in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field; or Equivalent Experience
- 8+ years experience in database administration and advanced database support
