This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Analyst based in India.
Join a global service delivery team supporting data-driven decision-making across the maritime and shipping industry. In this role, you will collect, validate, analyze, and maintain critical information covering ports, terminals, berths, vessel movements, commodities, and shipping markets. Your work will help ensure that business intelligence systems contain accurate, timely, and relevant information for internal teams and international clients. You will research data across multiple sources, identify inconsistencies, and transform information into reliable business insights. The position combines structured data management with research, reporting, and collaboration across a globally distributed environment. It is well suited to a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with large volumes of information and contributing to high-quality operational intelligence.

Accountabilities
- Enter and maintain global port, terminal, and berth information from source documents within defined timelines.
- Collect information on port characteristics, operating parameters, restrictions, local regulations, cargo operations, navigation requirements, costs, and performance from agents, published materials, port websites, and other open sources.
- Compile, compare, verify, and organize information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Analyze and validate collected data before adding or updating records within the business intelligence system.
- Serve as the key contact for assigned clients when providing requested information and supporting data-related requirements.
- Update vessel port-call information generated through AIS using emails, websites, and other reliable sources, with particular attention to cargo, quantities, and stakeholder information.
- Analyze and update commodity-flow information using sources such as international trade organizations, customs websites, and other publicly available data.
- Prepare periodic reports, tracking sheets, and data summaries for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collect and maintain shipping market news, trends, key developments, and relevant industry events from internal and external sources.
- Produce reports and highlight relevant market trends to support commercial teams and customers in making informed business decisions.
- Compile information in response to specific queries and locate relevant files and source documentation.
- Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders to gather market information and identify appropriate internal and external data sources.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, confidentiality, and compliance when handling business information.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business qualification; a degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field is desirable.
- Proven experience in data entry, data collection, and data management.
- Strong ability to collect information from multiple sources, compare datasets, identify discrepancies, and verify accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent communication skills, including strong written English and the ability to rephrase and present information clearly.
- Strong typing speed and accuracy, combined with excellent attention to detail.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to remain focused and productive when managing repetitive or deadline-driven tasks.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and data-management techniques, are highly desirable.
- Experience working directly with Excel VBA Macros is an advantage.
- Previous experience in the shipping industry or related backend processes is preferred.
- Basic understanding of shipping terminology and maritime operations is desirable.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a dynamic, international team.
- Strong analytical mindset and willingness to investigate, validate, and improve data quality.
- Ability to manage assigned workloads within agreed timelines while maintaining consistent quality standards.
- Familiarity with Microsoft-related certifications or professional training is a plus.
