We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer who will be responsible for the day-to-day operational administration, availability, performance, and documentation of the network infrastructure across all sites. This role ensures stable, secure, and efficient network services while meeting agreed service levels and supporting business operations.
Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Operations
- Perform
day-to-day operational administration of network infrastructure, including: Routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
- Internet
access services.
- Wide
Area Network (WAN) infrastructure and services.
- Local
Area Network (LAN) infrastructure and services.
- Manage
and support:
- DMZ,
firewall, VPN, APN, and proxy infrastructure and services.
- Fixed
infrastructure, including fibre and Ethernet cabling.
- Maintain
and oversee network patch rooms and network-related areas across all Clover sites
Performance & Monitoring
- Ensure
system performance and availability targets are met in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor
network infrastructure through the outsourced Network Operations Centre (NOC).
- Proactively
identify and resolve network performance, availability, and security issues.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Work
closely with third-party service providers to ensure efficient operations and service delivery.
- Coordinate
with vendors for incident resolution, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Liaise
daily with users and resolve network-related calls and incidents.
Documentation & Standards Create, maintain, and update:
- Network
architecture diagrams for all Clover installations.
- Logical
network diagrams within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs) within area of responsibility.
- Accurate
and up-to-date documentation for network configurations and processes.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Manage
and participate in small network-related projects within area of responsibility.
- Assist
with network upgrades, changes, and optimisation initiatives.
- Identify
opportunities to improve network reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Matric
and National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology.
- Cisco
Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco
Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- CompTIA
Network+
- Fortinet
/ Palo Alto / firewall-related certifications
- ITIL
Foundation
Skills
- Strong
knowledge of enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, wireless).
- Understanding
of firewalls, VPNs, DMZs, and security best practices.
- Experience
working with ISPs and managed service providers.
- Strong
troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability
to document technical environments clearly and accurately.
- Good
communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
