IT Business Health Systems Analyst

The Business & Health Systems Analyst analyzes complex business and healthcare-system needs and translates them into process improvements and technology solutions that support organizational goals. The role requires broad systems knowledge, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and coordinate projects across functional areas. Success also depends on advanced computer skills, effective planning, initiative, and exceptional written and oral communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct and direct the analysis of complex business issues to be solved with process changes, process improvements, and technology.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of assigned processes, functional areas, and business and healthcare systems.
  • Formulate and define objectives and scope of projects.
  • Translate business, user, regulatory, and technical requirements into practical process and technology solutions.
  • Gather data and analyze business and user needs in consultation with business managers, IT Staff, vendors, and end users.
  • Provide support for regulatory and compliance activities.
  • Author and maintain detailed systems documentation, including user and technical manuals.
  • Develop training materials that prepare end users to use assigned systems and processes effectively.
  • Serve as a liaison among IT staff, vendors, and end users to coordinate requirements, confirm technical compatibility, resolve concerns, and support user satisfaction.
  • Make recommendations on technology procurement to support business goals.
  • Work closely with end-users, vendors, other IT Staff to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Analyze and document detailed system factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.
  • Ensure the continuing effectiveness of current systems through appropriate testing and modification.
  • Lead assigned projects by conducting detailed analysis, coordinating project teams, maintaining project plans and timelines, reporting progress, documenting issues and risks, and completing post-project documentation of results, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Support project teams as assigned by completing analysis, documentation, coordination, and other project activities within established responsibilities and timelines.
  • Serve as the escalation point for assigned functional systems by assessing issues, coordinating resolution, and communicating status to affected stakeholders.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered when it provides comparable knowledge and abilities.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in healthcare business systems design, support, and development, with thorough knowledge of the processes, procedures, and systems used in assigned functional or user areas. At least one year of experience leading small project teams from initiation through completion is required. Experience with healthcare information systems is also required.
