As our portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking a passionate tech expert to join our IT Service Management team as a Sr Application Operations Engineer. The successful candidate will work in a multinational environment, supporting our business by developing solutions and leading the digital transformation of large European Public institutions & Private companies. What you will do...

IT System Reliability & Operations

  • Ensure the reliability, availability and performance of assigned IT Systems, operating and maintaining all environments (PROD and pre-PROD) within agreed Service Level targets.
  • Manage and document system configurations.
  • Perform system tuning and analyse IT System, middleware and database performance (response times, throughput, resource consumption.
  • Proactively track upcoming end-of-life / end-of-support versions, coordinate patching (including security patches), and ensure vendor technical support, software licences and certificates are renewed in time.
  • Maintain backup and disaster-recovery configurations per system and contribute to periodic Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery exercises.
  • Maintain the Software Repository and the Definitive Software Library, as well as up-to-date operational documentation, runbooks and knowledge-base articles.

Incident Response and Management

  • Provide 2nd-level support: respond to, investigate and resolve incidents within agreed SLA response/resolution times.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventive measures; contribute to Post-Incident Reports and knowledge articles to prevent recurrence.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application, middleware, database and integration layers during operation.

Monitoring & Alerting

  • Implement, maintain, and fine-tune monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g. Dynatrace, ELK Stack, Grafana, Splunk, Oracle Enterprise Manager) to proactively detect and escalate issues and performance bottlenecks at application layers and at infrastructure layers, ensuring full coverage.

Middleware & Integration Support

  • Operate and troubleshoot enterprise middleware and integration technologies relevant to the environment, including Oracle WebLogic / Fusion Middleware, Spring Boot 3.x-based application services, Oracle Service Bus, Apache Kafka / Confluent event-streaming.
  • Maintain CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code pipelines (Ansible / Ansible Tower, Jenkins, GitLab, Helm charts) for operational tasks such as patching and configuration management.
  • Support system exchange flows (SOAP, REST based interfaces) and interfaces with shared platforms.
  • Operate applications on virtualised / containerised platforms (VMware, Kubernetes, VMware Tanzu, AWS EKS, Docker - building and running Spring Boot 3.x services).

What is your experience...

We are looking for candidates who combine solid hands-on technical depth with the rigour expected from SLA-driven, multi-stakeholder public-sector IT operations.

  • BSc (or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any other relevant field.
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in IT Operations / Application Management within complex, SLA-driven, enterprise environments.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools: Dynatrace, ELK Stack, Grafana, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Splunk, Prometheus.
  • Experience in the operation and optimisation of middleware and integration technologies, including API gateways (Oracle Service Bus), messaging / event-streaming (Kafka / Confluent) and data-transformation layers.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle WebLogic / Fusion Middleware, Spring Boot-based applications, and SQL scripting on Oracle Database (including Oracle RAC).
  • Working knowledge of operating applications on virtualised / containerised platforms (VMware, Kubernetes / VMware Tanzu, AWS EKS, Docker).
  • Practical experience with automation tools for operational tasks such as Ansible / Ansible Tower (patching, configuration, IaC).
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab, Nexus) and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Awareness of security operations practices (security patching, vulnerability scanning.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
