Client seeking a highly experienced, PMP-certified IT Project Manager to lead strategic technology initiatives involving custom software development and third-party software implementations. This hybrid, 6-12 month contract requires a delivery-focused leader who can manage complex programs, competing priorities, vendors, and distributed teams while maintaining clear accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business outcomes. The successful candidate must communicate with equal effectiveness across the organization - from C-level executives and steering committees to entry-level business users, technical specialists, and near-shore software development teams. The role requires strong executive presence, practical technical acumen, and the ability to translate between business priorities and delivery realities. Core profile: PMP-certified IT project leader with strong Agile delivery experience, hands-on Jira proficiency, executive communication capability, and success coordinating near-shore development teams and enterprise software vendors. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership and Governance Lead multiple concurrent IT projects from initiation through planning, execution, deployment, stabilization, and closeout. Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, communication plans, RAID logs, and executive dashboards. Manage scope, timeline, budget, quality, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and change control. Provide concise project health reporting and actionable recommendations to executive sponsors and governance bodies. Custom Software Development Lead Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, or hybrid software development initiatives.
Coordinate product owners, business analysts, architects, developers, QA teams, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders. Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and production deployments. Drive accountability, transparency, and delivery discipline across near-shore software development teams. Third-Party Software Implementations Lead implementation of enterprise SaaS and commercial software platforms, including planning, configuration, integrations, testing, training, deployment, and adoption. Coordinate software vendors, implementation consultants, internal IT teams, cybersecurity, data teams, and business process owners. Oversee data migration, interface development, user acceptance testing, cutover planning, go-live readiness, and post-launch support. Hold vendors accountable for contractual milestones, deliverables, quality standards, and issue resolution. Stakeholder Communication and Team Coordination Serve as the communication bridge among C-level executives, department leaders, business users, technical teams, vendors, and near-shore partners. Translate technical risks, constraints, and dependencies into clear business language and decision-ready recommendations. Adapt communication style and level of detail for audiences ranging from executives to entry-level contributors. Build alignment, resolve conflicts, facilitate decisions, and maintain momentum across distributed teams and time zones.

Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. 7+ years of experience managing complex IT projects and enterprise technology initiatives. Demonstrated success delivering custom software development projects and third-party software implementations. Strong experience managing distributed, remote, or near-shore software development teams. Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills across all organizational levels. Proven ability to manage vendors, implementation partners, contracts, budgets, risks, and executive expectations. Solid understanding of the software development life cycle, system integrations, APIs, cloud platforms, testing, release management, and production support. Highly Desired Experience Strong practical experience leading Agile delivery using Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid methodologies. Hands-on Jira proficiency for backlog management, sprint planning, workflow configuration, issue tracking, dashboards, reporting, and release management. Experience using Confluence, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, or comparable collaboration and portfolio tools. Agile certification such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent. Experience coaching teams on Agile practices and balancing iterative delivery with enterprise governance requirements. Experience in the electrical utility, energy, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure industries. Experience delivering solutions that support field operations, customer service, network operations, asset management, engineering, or regulated business processes

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
