Full description

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join the team behind TBM, Eurowag’s internal FinTech platform that processes millions of financial transactions every month across fuel, toll, eMobility, and payment services for our pan-European transportation business. This is an opportunity to build and operate services that handle real money flows at scale. You will own the entire lifecycle of the solutions you create, from architecture and development to production operations and continuous improvement.

You'll work on a business-critical platform processing 8+ million transactions every month using a modern technology stack including Java 21, Quarkus, Kafka, and Azure.

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Java (17/21)
  • Hands-on experience with reactive programming (Quarkus/Mutiny or Spring WebFlux)
  • Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Strong understanding of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure

Bonus Knowledge:

  • Experience building or maintaining financial, payment, or transaction-processing systems
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Pulumi
  • Experience with production support, incident response, and on-call responsibilities
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, and a passion for knowledge sharing within engineering teams
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Quarkus
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with comprehensive test coverage across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Take ownership of your services in production, including monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to architectural decision-making
  • Work on mission-critical financial transaction flows with high standards for security, reliability, and compliance
