Job Title: Robotics Engineering Manager
Job Summary The Robotics Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the multidisciplinary engineering team developing Linamar Robotics products, prototypes, and proof-of-concept solutions. Reporting to the Director, Linamar Robotics, this role provides technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and systems engineering functions, guiding projects from concept through deployment. The position ensures engineering activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the Linamar Robotics product roadmap, while supporting innovation, collaboration, and successful product delivery.
Responsibility
- Lead the development of robotics prototypes, proof-of-concept systems, and products from concept through validated deployment.
- Translate product requirements into engineering plans, technical requirements, and development deliverables.
- Coordinate and guide mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and systems engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Drive technical execution, issue resolution, and engineering trade-off decisions to ensure successful delivery of prototypes and products.
- Review designs and ensure technical quality, reliability, performance, safety, and manufacturability requirements are achieved.
- Lead testing, validation, deployment, and continuous improvement activities for robotics products and solutions.
- Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, suppliers, partners, and customers to support successful product development and deployment.
- Coach, mentor, and provide technical leadership to engineers, co-op students, contractors, and external development resources.
- Support technical assessments of new technologies, partners, and product opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable robotics, safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Masters preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Required Skills/Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in robotics, automation, mechatronics, product development, or related engineering fields.
- Experience leading the development of complex electromechanical, robotic, or industrial automation systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and systems engineering.
- Experience taking products or prototypes from concept through testing, validation, and deployment.
