Job Description

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

The Field Support Engineer will work with the front-line sales forces and Customer’s Technical Representative at each account to improve the equipment reliability and decrease the Total Cost of Ownership by carrying out the following:

  • Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability.
  • Assist with technical reviews of specific applications to allow the optional selection of John Crane products and services in conjunction with regional engineering.
  • Conduct regular site visits and offer trouble shooting when needed.
  • Maintain and increase JC market share with key end users and develop territory market.
  • Assist end users during shut down. Service/support ongoing refurbishment contracts with end users.
  • Establish good relationship with end users.
  • Track MTBF for the specific operating areas.
  • Provide activity reports listing all "bad actors" by site and operating areas.
  • Make recommendations, which will lead to an MTBF improvement and plant-wide seal standardization where appropriate.
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis as required.
  • Record observations and provide analysis, conclusions, and trends of failure modes.
  • Assist with systems analysis and review operating conditions of rotating equipment to determine the effect on seal/pump reliability.
  • Assist customer during project commissioning.
  • Assist and manage Seal workshop at customer site.
  • Ensures quality & safety within functions/ tasks performed by himself/herself and staff reporting to him/her.
  • Responsible for exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with the applicable HSE instructions, requirements, laws and regulations received from customers, regulatory and statutory bodies.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

Education/Training: University degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.

Experience:

+5years of relevant mechanical engineering qualifications and experience predominantly on rotating equipment's applications and maintenance.

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Extensive knowledge rotating equipment’s covering pumps, compressors, mechanical seals
  • Strong Commercial and Technical Skills.
  • Communication and presentation skills.
  • Field exposure working at customer sites

Work Environment:

Work environment is typically considered an office environment during normal or extended business hours. However, this role will be purely based at customer premises.

Reports to: Kolkata Branch Manager

Languages: English and Hindi.
