Full description

The role is part of the One Gate product area, distributed between Amsterdam and Bucharest, and will operate across the full One Gate portfolio rather than being attached to one individual product or squad.

You will be responsible for driving portfolio-wide execution across One Gate digital products, ensuring that product roadmaps, strategic initiatives, country adoption, regulatory priorities, lifecycle decisions and new use cases are aligned with the overall One Gate vision and long-term direction.

As Senior Product Manager for product portfolio management, you will not replace the accountability of individual Product Managers for their own products. Instead, you will provide cross-product leadership, structure portfolio priorities, connect dependencies, and help ensure that product teams move in the same strategic direction.

The team

It is key that portfolio execution is aligned across Product Managers, engineering leadership, architects, security experts, designers, country stakeholders, business lines, global service providers and upstream or downstream squads in the value chain. You will create clarity on priorities, dependencies, portfolio trade-offs, adoption plans and decision points.

You will help balance strategic growth, country roll-outs, regulatory initiatives, product lifecycle management, standardization, run optimization and LCM-related priorities so that One Gate can scale as a reliable global platform while continuing to deliver measurable business value.

With your senior product management experience, you will develop and drive a practical portfolio view that connects strategy, roadmap, investments, adoption and execution. You will work in close collaboration with the One Gate Product Area Lead, while taking ownership for the product portfolio management scope and supporting Product Managers to manage their individual digital products with consistency and quality.

ING’s goal is to enable people to “do their thing” and empower them to stay a step ahead in life and business. We are one of the largest banks in Europe and we continuously evolve to become one of the most innovative companies in the banking sector.

Roles and responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager with relevant skills necessary to:

You are an experienced Senior Product Manager with a strong background in product portfolio management, digital platforms, stakeholder management and technology-driven product delivery. You have experience working across multiple products, squads, countries or business lines, and you are comfortable managing complexity without losing strategic focus.

You understand how to translate product strategy into portfolio execution, how to connect dependencies across teams, and how to create alignment between business, technology, security, architecture and country stakeholders. You are an excellent communicator, structured in your thinking, and able to bring clarity and direction in a complex stakeholder environment.

Do you recognize yourself in the following?

  • You can translate product area strategy into portfolio-level priorities and execution plans
  • You can lead complex initiatives that span multiple products, squads, countries and stakeholder groups
  • You are able to create structure, clarity and prioritization in a high-complexity portfolio environment
  • You can connect strategic ambitions with concrete roadmap decisions, investment choices and delivery sequencing
  • You are a strong stakeholder manager who can balance business, IT, security, architecture and country perspectives
  • You can coach and support Product Managers in their daily operations activities, while respecting their accountability for individual digital products
  • You are able to communicate a clear product portfolio narrative to senior stakeholders
  • You are pragmatic, structured, decisive and comfortable operating in ambiguity

How to succeed We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • Translate the One Gate strategy into a clear portfolio execution approach across multiple digital products
  • Drive portfolio-level prioritization, roadmap alignment and dependency management across Product Managers, squads and stakeholder groups

  • Shape and incubate new product opportunities and use cases before they are allocated to individual product teams
  • Actively manage the product portfolio lifecycle, including growth, maintenance, modernization, decommissioning and end-of-life initiatives
  • Create consistency in product management practices across the area, including roadmap management, value articulation, stakeholder engagement and portfolio reporting
  • Partner closely with the One Gate Product Area Lead and Product Managers to ensure the portfolio contributes to the overall One Gate vision and long-term roadmap
  • Establish and maintain strong governance across business, technology, architecture, security, risk, countries and central functions
  • Provide senior-level product leadership, coaching and support to Product Managers without taking over their accountability for individual digital products
  • Create a clear portfolio narrative for senior stakeholders, including portfolio health, priorities, trade-offs, risks, dependencies and required decisions

Next to senior product management skills, we look for:

  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely with senior stakeholders across business and technology
