We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Working alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients, you’ll help keep projects organized, on schedule, and within budget. This is a strong opportunity for a construction professional looking to develop their project management skills and advance into a Project Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Support commercial construction projects through preconstruction, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, correspondence, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors on scopes, schedules, materials, and outstanding requirements.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to identify conflicts, missing information, and potential issues.
- Assist with project schedules and monitor progress against key milestones.
- Participate in meetings with owners, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams while tracking action items and follow-ups.
- Assist with cost tracking, commitments, invoices, change orders, and other financial documentation.
- Visit active jobsites to document progress, verify field conditions, and coordinate with field personnel.
- Support punch lists, final inspections, warranties, and project closeout.
- Identify potential delays or project issues and communicate them to the Project Manager.
- Take on increasing project responsibility as experience and knowledge develop.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project coordination, project engineering, or a related construction role.
- Experience working for a general contractor on commercial construction, renovation, tenant improvement, or similar projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, superintendents, and clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
- Commercial construction experience is required. Residential-only experience will not meet the requirements.
