Overview
The Senior Finance Transformation Analyst is responsible for driving finance process improvement, systems enablement, reporting enhancement, and cross-functional project execution across the organization’s Finance operations. This role serves as a critical bridge between Finance, IT, business stakeholders, and external partners, translating business needs into scalable process, data, reporting, and technology solutions. The position is expected to lead complex initiatives with limited direction, strengthen internal controls, improve data quality, support user adoption, and ensure finance systems and processes deliver measurable business value.
This role is organized around six core areas: finance process transformation; business analysis and solution design; finance systems, data, and reporting enablement; project delivery and vendor coordination; change management and adoption; and controls, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Finance Process Transformation
- Lead the assessment, design, optimization, and standardization of end-to-end finance processes across Accounts Payable, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounting, FP&A, reporting, and related finance operations.
- Facilitate current-state and future-state process design sessions with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, manual workarounds, reporting issues, and automation opportunities.
- Ensure process and system changes support strong internal controls, data integrity, audit readiness, and appropriate segregation of duties.
- Partner with Finance leaders to identify control gaps, assess operational risks, and recommend practical improvements that strengthen compliance and accountability.
- Develop practical recommendations that improve efficiency, scalability, data quality, user experience, controls, and finance decision support.
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Lead structured discovery sessions to gather, clarify, and prioritize business requirements from Finance leaders, process owners, end users, IT partners, vendors, and implementation teams.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, decision logs, issue logs, test scenarios, and implementation dependencies.
- Translate ambiguous finance needs into clear, actionable requirements and solution recommendations that can be understood and executed by IT, vendors, consultants, and business stakeholders.
- Maintain traceability from business requirements through solution design, testing, implementation, and post-go-live validation.
Finance Systems, Data & Reporting Enablement
- Serve as a primary Finance liaison and business-side subject matter expert for finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, integrations, data structures, and enhancement requests.
- Lead or support implementations, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, production issue resolution, reporting improvements, and release testing across finance-related platforms,
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to support solution design, issue resolution, testing, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet business and reporting requirements.
- Promote data governance, reporting consistency, data integrity, and effective use of finance and operational data across systems.
- Partner with Finance leaders and business stakeholders to define metrics, reporting requirements, dashboards, KPIs, and recurring reporting needs.
- Validate data across systems, investigate reporting discrepancies, and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, transparency, and decision support.
Project Delivery, Vendor Coordination & Change Management
- Lead or support cross-functional finance transformation projects, including defining scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, success measures, and stakeholder responsibilities.
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to manage deliverables, open items, timelines, testing, issue resolution, solution design decisions, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Develop and support change management plans, training materials, job aids, user communications, readiness activities, and post-go-live adoption support.
- Communicate project updates, risks, recommendations, business cases, decisions, and outcomes to Finance leadership, IT partners, business stakeholders, and senior leaders.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and influence decisions without direct authority.
Controls, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure process and system changes support appropriate internal controls, approval workflows, audit evidence, role-based access, segregation of duties, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with Accounting, Internal Audit, Compliance, IT, and Finance leaders to identify risks, strengthen controls, and support audit readiness.
- Monitor process performance, gather stakeholder feedback, and identify opportunities for ongoing standardization, automation, and operational improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance transformation, finance operations, finance systems, business analysis, financial analysis, project delivery, or related Finance/IT roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting cross-functional finance transformation initiatives, process improvement efforts, system implementations, integrations, upgrades, or reporting enhancements.
- Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, documentation, testing, stakeholder facilitation, and solution design.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience working with finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, data validation, and cross-system reporting.
- Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, influence stakeholders, communicate with senior leaders, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Preferred
- Experience with Workday Financials, Workday Adaptive Planning, Salesforce, Ironclad, Power BI, project accounting, contract lifecycle tools, or other integrated finance and business platforms.
- Experience in healthcare, accreditation, nonprofit, professional services, regulated environments, or organizations with complex revenue streams and multi-system finance operations.
- Project Management or Agile certifications (PMP, Scrum, SAFe).
- Experience with internal controls, audit readiness, approval workflows, role-based access, data governance, and finance reporting standards.
- Experience creating training materials, user guides, job aids, change communications, dashboards, KPIs, or recurring finance reports.

- Strong candidates will bring experience improving finance processes, leading requirements and testing, validating data across systems, supporting reporting and dashboard development, strengthening controls, coordinating with vendors, and driving adoption of new tools and processes. They should be intellectually curious, highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
