Full description

We are X, bigly labs, Dis-Chem’s high-performance innovation hub; a place where bold ideas meet data, design, and radical customer focus to reimagine what healthcare can be.

Our mission is to power the future of healthcare by lowering costs, unlocking new possibilities, and improving access to healthcare for all South Africans. We do this through cutting-edge digital solutions that deliver smarter, more human, and truly patient-focused experiences. Here, your work is not limited to a whiteboard; it becomes real. It drives decisions, shapes experiences, and moves healthcare forward. We are driven by one big question: How do we use data and today’s technology to build breakthroughs to better health?

There’s only one question left: are you ready to make healthcare smarter, and actually mean it?

The Junior Analytics Engineer helps build the silver and gold layers the business runs on. The role delivers well-scoped models, tests and documentation in SQL on Databricks, guided by senior engineers, and learns the chapter's modelling standards. Gold is the product: everything built here is consumed by dashboards, analysts and applications.

  • Add expectations and data quality checks to assigned models so that failures are caught early.
  • Support reconciliation of Databricks outputs against SAP BW extracts during the migration.
  • Ship changes through Git pull requests and the chapter's CI/CD so that every change is reviewed and reversible.
  • Learn the estate, the modelling standards and the SAP source context through reviews and pairing so that scope grows quarter on quarter.

WHO YOU ARE?

  • Have a knowledge of how retail business processes turn into facts, dimensions and metrics; learning the SAP-to-Databricks estate.
  • Able to find the root cause of data problems and fixes them once, in the model.
  • Knows how to explains trade-offs to technical and business audiences.
  • Ability to delivers well-scoped tasks with guidance and asks early when blocked.
