Department Overview

Dominion Energy's Grid Resiliency organization is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs that enhance the reliability, resiliency, and operational performance of the electric distribution system. Key initiatives include Mainfeeder Hardening, Voltage Optimization, Intelligent Grid Devices, Voltage Island Mitigation, and other grid modernization programs supporting the Grid Transformation and Security Act (GTSA) and Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA). The organization leverages advanced analytics, operational data, and business intelligence tools to support strategic planning, regulatory reporting, financial forecasting, and program performance management.

Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing data analytics, reporting solutions, dashboards, and business intelligence tools that support Grid Resiliency programs and initiatives. This role serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, operational teams, and information technology partners to transform complex data into meaningful business insights that support strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively to analyze operational, financial, engineering, and program performance data; identify trends and opportunities; and develop reporting solutions that improve visibility into program execution and outcomes. Responsibilities include data acquisition, data governance, performance measurement, dashboard development, data visualization, forecasting support, and analytical modeling. The analyst will contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to automate reporting processes, enhance data quality, and improve organizational decision-making through data-driven insights.

This position supports regulatory filings, capital investment planning, annual reporting requirements, business performance reviews, and executive-level reporting. The Business Intelligence Analyst will work across multiple data platforms and technologies to deliver innovative and scalable analytical solutions aligned with Grid Resiliency business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical tools supporting Grid Resiliency programs.
  • Analyze operational, financial, reliability, and program performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support development of regulatory reporting, annual reports, business plans, and executive presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, regulatory, and IT teams to define business requirements and analytical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data governance processes, business definitions, metadata, and data quality controls.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, capital planning, and performance management activities.
  • Create automated reporting processes and data pipelines that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Develop statistical analyses, business models, and performance metrics to support program decision-making.
  • Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven evaluation and performance monitoring.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Business Intelligence Analyst - 0-2 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or related analytical functions. Business Intelligence Analyst - 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or related analytical functions.

  • Experience with data visualization, dashboard development, data modeling, reporting, and business analytics.
  • Proficiency with Power BI, SQL, Excel, Snowflake, Power Apps, SharePoint, and other reporting and analytics tools.
  • Experience working with enterprise databases, data warehouses, and cloud-based data environments.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and business glossary concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret large, complex datasets and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting capital programs, infrastructure projects, utility operations, engineering organizations, or regulated industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of electric utility operations, reliability metrics, grid modernization programs, or asset management practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within established deadlines.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered.

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

Associate Business Intelligence Analyst - $65,500 to $85,000 Business Intelligence Analyst - $73,200 to $95,000

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
