Are you passionate about keeping critical systems running smoothly and solving complex technical challenges?
We're looking for an Application Support Engineer to join our Finance Systems Services team, supporting the platforms that underpin Westpac's Treasury, Balance Sheet Risk, and Securitisation functions. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of a high-performance computing environment that supports some of the bank's most business-critical financial processes.
Working as part of an Agile squad, you'll collaborate with engineering teams across New Zealand and Australia, technology partners, and business stakeholders to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing services. You'll have the opportunity to work across a broad technology landscape, including Control-M, DevOps tooling, data platforms, reporting solutions, and monitoring technologies.
In this role you will:
- Manage and monitor Control-M batch schedules and workflows to ensure seamless processing and operational reliability.
- Support and optimise business-critical applications and platform services.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support deployments and automation pipelines using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
- Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional service outcomes.
- Support reporting and enhancement activities across Power BI and related platforms.
- Contribute to platform roadmaps, operational resilience, security, and compliance initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call roster and occasional planned weekend support activities.

- Hands-on experience with Control-M (or equivalent) for scheduling, monitoring, and managing batch jobs and workflows.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications within a Microsoft environment and SQL troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve production issues.
- Experience working with technologies such as SQL, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Power BI, Splunk, Dynatrace, PagerDuty or similar tools.
- Understanding of ITSM practices including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Experience working within Agile teams and collaborating across technical and business stakeholders.
