Description: Associate Technical Staff are mid-level professionals with a solid understanding of technical concepts and skills. They have completed relevant education or training programs and have gained initial practical experience. They work under moderate supervision, supporting projects and troubleshooting as needed. They may lead small areas of technical projects, and actively seek hands-on experience and training to further refine and enhance their skills.

We are pleased to announce the immediate need for a Network Engineer, who will join our Ground Based Radar (GBR) Maintenance and Sustainment Services (GMASS) team in Colorado Springs, CO and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. You will be part of a team providing key technical support for Maintenance and Sustainment services (including improvements and modernization) for 6 Ground Based Radars (5 Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWR) / 1 Perimeter Acquisition Radar Characterization System (PARCS) and the associated Integration laboratories.

Responsibilities:

You will be working with the GMASS program including systems engineering, software (SW), hardware (HW), cyber, logistics and test engineers to help engineering teams develop and implement approved modernization efforts within specified performance, cost, and schedule objectives to ensure continued operational capability while seamlessly transitioning new technologies into the radars. You will be part of a team known for its excellence in research, design, development, and testing of advanced information processing HW and SW.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the infrastructure that ensures reliable and secure network operations for a radar weapon system. This includes configuring and maintaining network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, as well as monitoring network performance to identify and resolve connectivity issues in both Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). Additionally, you will design and document architectures, configure Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), implement Internet Protocol (IP) addressing schemes, and ensure effective network segmentation to optimize performance. You will create and maintain diagrams and documentation, and support disaster recovery plans. Lastly, you will collaborate across teams, adhere to industry standards, ensure compliance with IT policies, and often use tools like Wireshark or SolarWinds to analyze and monitor network traffic. You may also work with vendors to address complex issues and provide end-user training and support to facilitate seamless network operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and uptime to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues within Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) environments.
  • Conduct network installations, upgrades, and relocations, adhering to company standards.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for secure remote access.
  • Perform network security assessments and implement protective measures.
  • Assist in the design and documentation of network architectures and topologies.
  • Configure Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) and manage network segmentation to optimize performance.
  • Manage and monitor network bandwidth usage to prevent congestion.
  • Implement Internet Protocol (IP) addressing schemes and subnetting for efficient resource allocation.
  • Maintain and update network diagrams and documentation.
  • Utilize tools such as Wireshark or SolarWinds for traffic analysis and troubleshooting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must possess, or can obtain, a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to commute and work daily in offices located in Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate users demonstrate a strong grasp of core SW features and can confidently navigate more advanced tasks across various Microsoft Office applications. In Excel, apply formulas, build tables, and generate basic pivot tables to analyze and present data. Word skills include executing mail merges, formatting complex tables, and integrating graphics and charts for more polished documents. PowerPoint presentations crafted by intermediate users often feature animations and incorporate tools from other Office programs to enhance engagement. Manage Outlook with proficiency, handling email, calendar appointments, and contact organization independently and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of full-time professional experience in network engineering or related fields.
  • Experience with system requirement elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to HW and SW segments and components.
  • Proficient in developing technical specifications and analyzing HW configurations and SW solutions to propose new system-level requirements.
  • Execute firmware and software upgrades on network equipment.
  • Ability to deploy and maintain wireless network solutions, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and refine network policies and procedures.
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning and network redundancy implementations.
  • Set up and manage network user accounts, access control, and permissions.
  • Monitor and analyze logs for security and performance issues.
  • Support Quality of Service (QoS) configuration to optimize network traffic prioritization.
  • Diagnose hardware failures and recommend solutions or replacements.
  • Perform regular backups of network configurations to support rapid recovery.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational Information Technology (IT) policies.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve advanced network hardware and software issues.
  • Provide end-user training and support for connectivity and network-related issues.
  • Experience with Combatant Command, Service-Level and acquisition directorates.
  • Ability to effectively operate in an environment using Agile SW development and Scrum.
