About the Team

It’s an exciting time in technology, and that buzz is felt throughout PetSmart! We are continuing to grow at a faster pace and we want to continue to provide best-in-class experiences for pets and pet parents.

Our Technology team has 6 different departments: Information Security, Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, eCommerce & Marketing Technology, Data and Stores, Services & Supply Chain.

Whether it’s online or in our stores, the work that the IT team does is instrumental in PetSmart’s success. We have a strategic and actionable plan underway and are looking for associates who are just as excited about it as we are.

About the Job

The Full Stack Data Engineer plays a critical role in developing and managing our sophisticated data infrastructure and analytics platforms. This position demands a blend of data engineering and software development expertise, with significant emphasis on utilizing leading-edge technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica, TIBCO, Spark, DBT, MicroStrategy, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Spark for real-time and batch processing, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.
  • Implement and manage data storage solutions in Snowflake, optimizing for scalability, performance, and security.
  • Utilize DBT for effective data transformation and modeling to support both analytical and operational needs.
  • Develop dynamic dashboards and reports with BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot, delivering actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing technology team to enhance data-driven marketing initiatives and customer personalization.
  • Uphold data governance, quality standards, and compliance across all data processes and platforms.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology trends, advocating for the adoption of innovations that can benefit PetSmart.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering or similar roles, with a strong background in technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, DBT, MicroStrategy, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL, with an understanding of front-end technologies for effective dashboarding and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across different teams and with various stakeholders.
