About the Team

About the Job
Overview:
This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of PetSmart applications by partnering with Product, Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to validate that software meets business and functional requirements. The Quality Assurance Engineer will design, execute, and maintain test scenarios while supporting quality initiatives across web and mobile applications. This role will primarily focus on mobile application testing while also supporting web-based solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and define comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, sanity, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing across mobile and web applications.
- Execute manual testing on real devices and device farms to validate application functionality, usability, and customer experience.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution while working closely with developers and product teams.
- Validate production deployments by executing smoke tests and supporting production verification activities.
- Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, story grooming, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Review requirements and identify functional gaps, risks, and test coverage early in the development lifecycle.
- Support automation initiatives by identifying regression candidates and validating automated test execution results.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to ensure appropriate test coverage.
- Contribute to Quality Engineering best practices, documentation, and continuous process improvements.
- Demonstrate ownership, proactive communication, and collaboration to deliver high-quality software.
Must Have:
- Experience testing mobile applications (iOS and Android) with a strong understanding of mobile user experience and platform behaviors.
- Experience testing web applications.
- Experience using real devices and cloud device platforms such as BrowserStack.
- Strong experience in functional, integration, sanity, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and API validation using tools such as Postman.
- Experience working in Agile or SAFe Agile development environments.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience using Test Management tools such as QTest or HP ALM.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify risks early and communicate them proactively.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in Retail or E-Commerce domain.
Nice to Have:
- Understanding of automation testing concepts, frameworks, and Quality Engineering best practices.
- Experience executing and analyzing existing automated test suites.
- Ability to identify manual test cases suitable for automation.
- Basic knowledge of programming concepts and object-oriented programming.
- Exposure to Java or another programming language.
- Familiarity with Selenium, Appium, TestNG, JMeter, Postman, or similar automation tools.
- Exposure to continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or CloudBees.
- Experience reviewing automation results and collaborating with automation engineers.
- Basic understanding of performance testing concepts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of Quality Assurance experience supporting mobile and web applications.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and software testing methodologies.
- Experience working in Agile development teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
