Today, Omio partners with over 1,000 transportation providers across 46 countries, helping travellers discover and book journeys across Europe, the US and Canada. Together with Rome2Rio, our platforms help over 900 million travellers every year.

Behind that customer experience is a complex technology platform: thousands of routes and products, hundreds of provider integrations, constantly changing availability and prices, different booking capabilities and an increasingly diverse set of products and distribution channels.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to help evolve the Search & Booking foundations that power this ecosystem—and make them ready for the next generation of Omio products, including AI-powered and agentic experiences.

The Opportunity

You will own strategically important capabilities across Omio's Platform.

Your mission is to make it dramatically easier for Omio teams—and increasingly intelligent systems—to discover, understand and transact travel inventory.

You will work on the platform capabilities behind questions such as:

  • How should Omio represent and expose bookable travel offers consistently across hundreds of providers?
  • How do we make search fast, reliable and flexible while supporting increasingly diverse products and use cases?
  • How should availability, pricing and offer information flow between Search and Booking?
  • How do we build stable contracts while allowing the underlying provider ecosystem to evolve?
  • How do we expose Search and Booking capabilities so that web, app, B2B and AI/agentic experiences can build on the same foundations?
  • Where can AI improve platform intelligence, developer productivity, operational efficiency or the quality of decisions our systems make?

This is not a feature-PM role focused on managing a backlog.

It is a technical product role at the intersection of product architecture, distributed systems, commerce and AI. You will work closely with senior engineers and architects to define platform boundaries and contracts, while working with product teams to understand what capabilities they need to build great customer experiences.

Your customers are both travellers and builders: the teams and systems using Search & Booking capabilities to create Omio experiences.

What You'll Do

Define the Platform Direction

  • Define the product vision, strategy and roadmap for core Search & Booking platform capabilities.
  • Develop a clear view of which capabilities belong in shared platforms versus individual product experiences.
  • Translate customer, product and engineering needs into reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture on the evolution of APIs, contracts, data models and service boundaries.
  • Balance long-term platform evolution with the need to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes today.
  • Identify where existing architectural constraints create product friction and build the case for addressing them.
  • Create clarity across complex technical areas with multiple teams, dependencies and competing priorities.

Evolve Search as a Platform

  • Shape capabilities that allow Omio products to discover and retrieve relevant, bookable offers across a highly heterogeneous provider ecosystem.
  • Define platform capabilities around search requests, offers, availability, pricing and related travel data.
  • Improve the consistency and usability of Search APIs and contracts for consuming teams.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams on search quality, performance, observability and scalability.
  • Establish metrics that distinguish infrastructure health from actual search quality and customer outcomes.
  • Explore how intelligent ranking, semantic understanding, personalisation and AI can improve how Omio understands and fulfils search intent.
  • Prepare Search capabilities for new consumers—including conversational interfaces and autonomous agents.

Build for Humans, Products and AI Agents

The next generation of consumers of Omio's platform will not only be traditional web and mobile applications.

AI assistants and autonomous agents will increasingly need to understand travel options, search inventory, compare offers and complete transactions.

You will help ensure Omio's platform is ready for that world.

  • Define platform capabilities that can be safely consumed by AI-powered experiences and agents.
  • Explore how existing Search & Booking capabilities should be exposed as tools, APIs or structured interfaces.
  • Ensure platform responses provide sufficient structure, context and semantics for both deterministic software and AI systems.
  • Define appropriate boundaries between probabilistic AI behaviour and deterministic transactional systems.
  • Work with AI teams on orchestration patterns that connect models to live inventory, pricing and booking capabilities.
  • Consider identity, permissions, confirmation, idempotency, auditability and failure recovery when agents perform transactional actions.
  • Identify where AI belongs inside the platform itself versus where it should remain a consumer of platform capabilities.

Treat Platform Experience as a Product

Great platforms succeed when teams choose to build on them.

You will therefore treat developer experience and platform adoption as product problems.

  • Understand the workflows and pain points of teams integrating with Search & Booking.
  • Reduce the time and complexity required to launch new products and experiences.
  • Improve platform discoverability, documentation, tooling and integration patterns.
  • Define clear abstractions that hide unnecessary provider and infrastructure complexity.
  • Identify recurring work across product teams and convert it into reusable capabilities.
  • Establish adoption, integration effort and developer satisfaction as measurable platform outcomes.
  • Prevent the platform from becoming a collection of technically reusable but practically difficult-to-use services.

Drive Reliability and Platform Quality

Search & Booking sit directly on Omio's critical customer and revenue path.

You will work with Engineering to make reliability a first-class product concern.

  • Define product-level expectations for availability, latency, correctness and graceful degradation.
  • Understand failure modes across distributed Search & Booking flows.
  • Use production data, incidents and operational patterns to identify structural platform improvements.
  • Establish meaningful platform health and quality metrics.
  • Make informed trade-offs between resilience, performance, complexity and delivery speed.
  • Ensure critical platform changes have clear rollout, observability and rollback strategies.

Lead Cross-Platform Decisions

Many of the most important problems will not belong neatly to one team.

You will:

  • Lead decisions spanning Search, Booking, provider integrations, Payments, Data and customer-facing product teams.
  • Align teams around shared platform contracts and long-term architectural direction.
  • Make dependencies, ownership and trade-offs explicit.
  • Challenge local optimisation when it creates unnecessary ecosystem complexity.
  • Communicate complex technical decisions clearly to product, engineering and senior leadership.
  • Create enough structure for teams to move independently without losing platform coherence.

You May Be a Good Fit If

  • You have substantial Product Management experience building platforms, APIs, infrastructure products, marketplaces or technically complex consumer products.
  • You have owned products where the primary users included other engineering or product teams.
  • You are comfortable discussing APIs, service boundaries, data models, event-driven systems, distributed workflows and system architecture with senior engineers.
  • You can understand an architecture diagram, challenge assumptions and ask the questions that reveal hidden product and technical trade-offs.
  • You think in terms of capabilities and contracts, not simply features.
  • You understand how platform decisions compound over time and can balance architectural quality with incremental delivery.
  • You have worked on systems where reliability, latency and correctness directly affect customer or revenue outcomes.
  • You are comfortable working with ambiguous ownership and problems spanning multiple teams.
  • You can connect technical investments to customer outcomes and business value.
  • You have strong product judgment and can prioritise platform work even when the value is distributed across multiple future use cases.
  • You communicate clearly with both deeply technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
  • You are hands-on and willing to inspect APIs, logs, metrics, prototypes and real system behaviour rather than managing primarily through documents.

You do not need to be a software engineer.

But you should genuinely enjoy understanding how complex systems work.

AI-Native Product Practice

We expect you to be an AI-native Product Manager.

That means more than adding AI features to a roadmap. You should actively explore how AI changes both what we build and how we build it.

You should be comfortable:

  • Using AI throughout product discovery, technical research, analysis and delivery.
  • Rapidly prototyping concepts instead of relying only on specifications.
  • Working directly with LLMs, prompts, tool use and agent workflows when exploring product ideas.
  • Using AI to interrogate technical documentation, APIs, logs and datasets.
  • Exploring how AI can reduce integration and operational complexity across the platform.
  • Understanding the fundamentals of retrieval, tool calling, structured outputs, evaluations and guardrails.
  • Distinguishing between problems that benefit from probabilistic AI and those requiring deterministic software.
  • Working with engineers to determine when AI should be embedded into platform capabilities versus layered on top of them.
  • Continuously experimenting with new AI-enabled ways of increasing your own and your team's product-development velocity.

You do not need to be an ML engineer.

You do need enough technical curiosity to prototype, experiment and reason about AI systems yourself.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is not measured by the number of platform features shipped.

Over time, we would expect to see:

  • Product teams launching Search & Booking experiences faster.
  • New products and inventory types requiring less bespoke platform work.
  • Clearer and more stable contracts between Search, Booking and consuming teams.
  • Improved Search & Booking reliability, latency and observability.
  • Reduced duplication and unnecessary coupling across teams and systems.
  • Better visibility into the quality and performance of the end-to-end Search → Booking funnel.
