Systems Engineer Vulnerability Mitigation provides basic support for detection, assessment, communication, and remediation coordination of security vulnerabilities. The incumbent must have basic knowledge of Linux/Windows server and application administration, configuration, networking, scripting and automation, distributed computing, and security. Communication and documentation skills are required to collaborate with more senior engineers.
The Vulnerability Mitigation Engineer focuses on the detection and operations of vulnerability scanning in accordance with best practices. They support information technology teams in remediating previously known vulnerabilities and provide basic troubleshooting.
Principal Accountabilities: -Able to resolve issues with known solutions for vulnerability scanning, file integrity management, or foundational software compliance, and the associated services, schedules and reporting processes with supervision. -Provides support in evaluation and remediation of known vulnerabilities, known issues with unauthorized change detection, or foundational software compliance issues. Documents known issues, if necessary. -Defines simple problems. Gathers and compares data about problems, and documents the details to assist more senior engineers. May work out a plan for simple plans with supervision. -Demonstrates basic understanding of most of the following: Linux/Windows server and application administration, configuration, networking, scripting and automation, large scale distributed computing architecture (client server, cloud, intranet/internet), hardware/operating system/application interaction, and security. -Collaborates with other teams within the technology division to determine an optimal solution for stakeholders based on mainly known solutions. -Provides technical advice to select teams within technology on mainly known security solutions.
Skills & Software Requirements: Basic Linux, basic Windows, Qualys experience preferred, basic scripting, basic network skills
