Full description

Summary

The Platform & Engineering Manager for Productivity Engineering is accountable for executing the strategy aligned to business priorities and target architecture, platform engineering, operations, security, adoption and continuous improvement of M&S's enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms, including: Microsoft 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform / UiPath, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Viva Services, Copilot Studio, Enterprise Messaging & Collaboration Services

The role owns the platform engineering roadmap, security, operational health and long-term evolution of these services, ensuring they deliver secure, resilient and high-value colleague experiences.

This leader drives engineering excellence across internal and partner engineering teams while enabling adoption of secure AI, automation and collaboration capabilities that improve colleague productivity and business outcomes.

The role combines platform ownership, engineering leadership, operational accountability and people leadership to ensure productivity platforms remain secure, cost-effective, innovative and aligned to organisational strategy.

You will be the platform owner, not just a platform admin. A people leader, not just a technical specialist. A retail business productivity service designer, not just an information worker tooling manager.

What you'll do

  • Own and deliver the enterprise productivity platform strategy, roadmap and lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business priorities, architecture, security and governance standards.
  • Lead engineering teams across Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Power Platform, Copilot and related services, driving automation, resilience and operational excellence.
  • Enable secure adoption of collaboration, automation and AI capabilities, including governance for M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Agents and Power Platform integrations.
  • Maintain service reliability, platform security, compliance, operational health, incident management, continuous improvement and cost optimisation across productivity services.
  • Build and coach high-performing engineering teams while managing stakeholders, vendors, partners and budgets to deliver measurable colleague and business value.

Who you are

  • Enterprise productivity platform leadership, with significant experience owning and leading Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Viva, Copilot and Power Platform services at scale.
  • Strong technical architecture and engineering capability, including platform design, automation, observability, SRE practices and operational resilience.
  • Security, compliance and governance expertise across critical enterprise platforms, including AI governance and secure Copilot adoption.
  • People leadership and delivery management skills, with experience leading internal, outsourced and remote engineering teams to deliver through others.
  • Stakeholder, vendor and partner management skills, including roadmap ownership, investment planning, risk management and communication with senior technical and business teams.
