Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in the renewable energy sector? Private Energy Partners (‘PEP’), a wholly owned affiliate of the Quinbrook Group, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Solutions Engineering Manager with the Global Energy Solutions team.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Solution Engineering and Product Management. The Solutions Engineering Manager will be accountable for overseeing the techno-commercial elements of renewable energy projects, including Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role requires close collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders, focusing on the delivery of projects that are efficient, within scope, on budget, and on schedule. A strong blend of system-level technical expertise and commercial insight is essential to develop project solutions that are technically sound, financially viable, and competitive in the market.
The Global Energy Solutions (GES) team works in partnership with regional teams based in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Solutions Engineering Manager will play a crucial role in linking engineering, commercial, and investment functions. This is achieved by providing technical leadership from the initial stages of project development, through due diligence and bidding, into the contracting phase, financial close, and, where required, supporting project execution.
Key Responsibilities:• Lead the design, development, and technical oversight of BESS, Solar PV, and Wind projects, ensuring robust system architecture and performance.
- Lead equipment selection (battery systems, PCS/inverters, substations, SCADA/EMS, integration), conducting yield assessments, storage sizing, degradation modelling, standardising specifications, and interfacing with OEMs, EPCs and consultants.
- Lead all technical and commercial inputs for tenders, EPC negotiations, and proposals—including developing CAPEX estimates, LCOE/LCOS benchmarks, evaluating supplier offers, and performing technical-commercial comparisons.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends in renewable energy, maintaining an up-to-date product map of key suppliers.
- Provide technical leadership across all project stages, including feasibility studies, tendering, contract negotiations, and construction, while interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Champion the integration of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in project designs, ensuring all solutions meet local and international standards.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and implementing best practices across engineering workflows and project delivery.
- Support the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth within the organisation.
Key requirements:• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems or any related Renewable Energy field
- Proven engineering experience with Solar and Battery Storage Systems of at least 4 years.
- Experience in pre-feasibility, feasibility, FEED, design, and support to construction and commissioning phases
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments
- Strong organisational skills, with effective prioritisation, schedule management and ability to adapt to business needs.
- Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to engage with and evaluate equipment vendors and service providers
- Willingness to travel internationally, 20%.
