Full description

At Curtze Food Service, we've been serving restaurants, healthcare, education, and other foodservice operators for over 145 years. As a family-owned distributor, we're committed to combining exceptional customer service with technology that helps our business and our customers succeed.

We're looking for a Business Systems & Automation Analyst to help solve business problems through technology, data, and automation.

About the Role

We're hiring a Business Systems & Automation Analyst to serve as a first point of contact for technology and data requests across the company. You'll handle reports, data pulls, Excel work, and troubleshooting, and you'll own each request through to completion - resolving what you can yourself and coordinating with the IT Director, developers, vendors, or leadership when needed.

Over time, you'll use scripting, workflow tools, and AI to automate the repetitive work you encounter, and you'll learn our UNIX and legacy business systems to provide backup operational support.

This is a hands-on technical role, not a coordination-only position. It is targeted at candidates with one to five years of relevant experience; strong entry-level candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and triage day-to-day requests from across the company - reports, data pulls, Excel workbooks, SQL queries, flat files, and operational questions - distinguishing user errors, bugs, reporting needs, and operational problems, resolving what you can, and routing development work to the right people.
  • Meet with employees, department leaders, and vendors to understand needs, translate them into actionable technical work, and track everything through tickets, boards, and follow-ups.
  • Investigate application, data, file-processing, and workflow issues.
  • Support projects and third-party integrations: scheduling, requirements, testing, and documentation, from kickoff through go-live.
  • Identify repetitive work and automate or simplify it using scripts, workflow tools, or AI - with the judgment to know when a simple fix is the better answer.
  • Learn our UNIX and legacy business systems and provide backup operational support as needed.

Requirements

  • Reliable follow-through: organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple open requests without letting any drop.
  • Advanced Excel skills: formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and cleaning up messy real-world data.
  • Experience using technology to improve or automate a business process, at any scale.
  • Clear communication with a range of audiences, from warehouse staff to executives and vendors.
  • Ability to pick up unfamiliar systems, technologies, and business processes quickly.

Preferred

Curiosity and willingness to learn matter more than checking every box.

  • SQL and relational databases; Power Query or advanced Excel automation
  • A scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
  • Workflow tools (Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, Make) or experience with AI tools, LLMs, and API-connected workflows
  • Flat files (CSV, fixed-width, EDI), APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
  • UNIX, Linux, COBOL, or other legacy systems
  • Distribution, warehousing, foodservice, or similar operational environments

We offer a competitive salary, a 401(k), health insurance, dental, vision, and pet insurance, along with opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a stable, family-owned company with a long history of success.
