Position Summary
The Business Analyst supports PopStroke's Finance & Business Analytics function by developing reports, maintaining data accuracy, and providing meaningful analysis that helps leaders make informed business decisions. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, Marketing, Technology, and the Manager, Finance & Business Analytics to deliver timely reporting, investigate trends, and improve business performance across the organization. The ideal candidate is analytically curious, enjoys solving problems, and is eager to learn how data and business decisions drive financial performance. Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Analytics
- Build and maintain recurring reports covering sales, venue performance, memberships, events, labor, and other key business metrics.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages and supporting analyses.
- Monitor key business metrics and identify trends or unusual results requiring further review.
- Assist with budget variance reporting and overall business performance tracking.
Data Management
- Reconcile data across financial, point-of-sale (POS), membership, marketing, and operational systems.
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Maintain reporting files, dashboards, and automated reporting processes.
- Support ongoing improvements to reporting efficiency through automation and AI.
Business Support
- Analyze memberships, pricing, promotions, gift cards, event sales, and operational initiatives.
- Conduct competitive research and summarize findings into actionable insights.
- Prepare executive presentations, charts, dashboards, and analytical summaries.
- Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from business leaders.
Partnership & Communication
- Respond to reporting requests from venue operators and corporate leaders.
- Explain reporting results and answer questions related to business performance.
- Partner with Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Technology teams to improve reporting quality and business understanding.
- Communicate analytical findings in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.
Continuous Improvement
- Utilize AI tools to improve analysis, reporting efficiency, and documentation.
- Continuously expand knowledge across finance, marketing, operations, and business analytics.
- Support improvements to reporting processes, automation, and data quality initiatives.
- Seek opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Marketing, or a related field.
- Previous internship, analytical, finance, business intelligence, or reporting experience preferred but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large data sets.
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve analysis and productivity.
- Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity querying cloud data warehouses (such as BigQuery) is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information simply.
- Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
