About This Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Engineering leader to serve as the technical authority across data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, and master data management. Reporting to the Senior Director of E-commerce, Application Architecture, and Data Platforms, this role will lead the data engineering team while partnering closely with director-level and executive stakeholders to shape and execute the organization's data strategy.

This leader will be responsible for the vision, architecture, and roadmap of the enterprise data platform, ensuring scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on technical expertise with proven leadership experience managing engineers and influencing strategic decisions across the organization.

What You Will Work On

  • Lead and develop the data engineering team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and delivery oversight.
  • Own the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for enterprise data, analytics, BI, and master data platforms.
  • Design and optimize modern cloud-based data platforms leveraging GCP and the modern data stack.
  • Drive platform-level architectural decisions that improve scalability, reliability, governance, and business value.
  • Build and enhance data pipelines using tools such as BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Dagster, and Airflow.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to define data strategy and align platform capabilities with organizational goals.
  • Lead master data management initiatives, including ownership and optimization of Pimcore or equivalent MDM platforms.
  • Integrate AI-powered capabilities into analytics and reporting platforms, including solutions such as Looker Agents and Hex AI.
  • Establish infrastructure-as-code best practices using Terraform and cloud-native technologies.
  • Collaborate with executive stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions with measurable business impact.

What You Will Bring

  • 10-12+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, and enterprise data architecture.
  • 2-4+ years of people leadership experience, including leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Extensive IT experience with a strong background in data engineering, data platforms, and cloud technologies.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, Python, and data engineering best practices.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), and fact/dimension design.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern data technologies including:
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • BigQuery
  • dbt
  • Fivetran
  • Airbyte
  • Looker
  • Hex
  • Dagster
  • Airflow
  • Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, particularly within GCP environments.
  • Experience incorporating AI capabilities into analytics and data platforms.
  • Proven ownership of Master Data Management platforms such as Pimcore or comparable solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Track record of driving strategic platform decisions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong communication and executive partnership skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
