Position Summary

We are seeking a Manager, Data Engineer to join our Retail Resource Center’s Innovation team. This role sits at the intersection of data analysis, BI development, and data engineering — you'll spend roughly equal time analyzing data to answer business questions leveraging SQL, building and maintaining Data Visualization dashboards such as Power BI, and building/maintaining the pipelines and data models (primarily in GCP, Snowflake and BigQuery) that feed both.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience and is passionate about turning data into actionable insights — someone who enjoys solving business challenges, building meaningful reporting tools, and helping leaders make data-driven decisions. This position will partner closely with stakeholders throughout the organization as well as other analysts and engineers on the team.

We're increasingly building AI capabilities into our analytics workflows, and this role will help shape that. You'll use AI-assisted tools to accelerate analysis and development, and help evaluate where AI/LLM-based approaches (e.g., natural language querying, automated insight generation, anomaly detection) can add value for the business.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering data analysis, or BI development
  • Experience using AI tools to support analysis, coding, and documentation
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimizing complex queries and transformations
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards, data models, and DAX measures in Power BI
  • Hands-on experience working with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or BigQuery preferred)
  • Experience designing dimensional data models (e.g., star schema) for analytics use
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/data pipelinesStrong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent business communication skills, ability to translate stakeholder questions into analysis and explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Power BI certification or equivalent
  • Experience with Python or another scripting language for data manipulation/automation
  • Experience with orchestration tools
  • Prior experience working directly with business stakeholders in a self-serve analytics or embedded analyst capacity
  • Experience applying AI/LLM-based approaches to analytics and BI (e.g., natural language querying, automated insight generation)

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Data or Business Analytics, Computer Science, or similar), or equivalent practical experience
