About the role
As Senior System Analyst, Payments & Cards, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and operating the payment gateway infrastructure that underpins our banking services. You will provide technical guidance across the selection, design, deployment, development, maintenance, support and improvement of our member-centric payments platforms.
This role carries delegated responsibility for the reliability, security and performance of banking services, products and applications used directly by our members and employees. You will work closely with architects, product owners, delivery leads and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable and aligned to business objectives.
This role is offered as 12 months Fixed Term Contract with potential extension or permanency.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance to the Payments & Cards team on operational activities, including incident and problem resolution, and integration projects.
- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders on the design of scalable, reliable and secure Payments & Cards solutions that meet business, strategic, security and compliance requirements.
- Lead and oversee changes into production, ensuring development, design, testing and verification adhere to ITIL standards and Secure, Stable & Resilient (SSR) principles.
- Partner with product owners, delivery leads and analysts to ensure seamless integration of Payments & Cards platforms with other systems and applications.
- Champion agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, and drive continuous improvement within the team.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications and support documentation.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimisation strategies in collaboration with the wider team.
- Define testing strategies and conduct solution reviews to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Communicate technical concepts and project updates clearly to stakeholders, including management and sponsors.
- Participate in an on-call roster to support the ongoing stability and availability of Payments & Cards platforms.
About you
You bring strong expertise in delivering and supporting payment infrastructure that is usable, stable, secure and compliant. You are a confident technical advisor who thrives on mentoring others, driving continuous improvement and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience in financial services and IT operations.
- Expertise in credit cards, tokenisation and switch management (Authentic and Postillion), ATMs, Visa, Eftpos and IPEX.
- Strong knowledge of payments schemes including NPP, PayTo, Direct Entry and BPAY.
- Experience with real-time fraud management platforms.
- Proven experience in solution design, software development and integration projects.
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and tools such as Scrum and Jira.
- A track record of designing, delivering and maintaining complex technical solutions, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong documentation and written communication skills.
Desirable
- Technical familiarity with current and/or future-state systems, including Mulesoft, Salesforce, Signature, ACI Products and OpenShift.
- Knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platform services.
- Networking and programming skills (Java, Universe, C#).
- Familiarity with SQL Management Studio and query development.
- Exposure to multiple delivery methodologies, with the ability to adapt to the selected project approach.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related discipline.
