Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a Platform Engineering & DevOps Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable, secure and reliable platform infrastructure. The role will focus on platform engineering, cloud adoption, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, container orchestration, observability, DevSecOps and Site Reliability Engineering practices.The position will enable development teams through self-service capabilities, reusable platform components, standardized environments and efficient deployment practices. The role will also provide technical guidance, support platform modernization and improve the reliability, security, performance and cost efficiency of Synechron’s technology platforms.

Software Requirements

Required

  • AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Strong hands-on experience managing and optimizing cloud environments using at least one major cloud platform.
  • Docker: Practical experience building, securing, managing and deploying containerized applications.
  • Kubernetes: Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications, administering clusters, performing upgrades and troubleshooting workloads.
  • Terraform, CloudFormation or Similar IaC Frameworks: Experience creating reusable Infrastructure as Code for infrastructure provisioning, configuration and environment standardization.

Platform Engineering

  • Design, build and maintain robust, scalable and secure platform infrastructure.
  • Develop self-service capabilities and reusable platform components for development teams.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar frameworks.

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test and deployment processes.

  • Improve software delivery efficiency through DevOps practices and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate security, compliance, quality and policy checks into deployment pipelines.
  • Implement reliable release processes with appropriate validation, approvals, rollback and recovery mechanisms.

  • Identify and eliminate delivery bottlenecks, repetitive manual work and avoidable deployment risks.

Cloud and Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and optimize cloud environments on AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Implement high-availability, disaster-recovery and scalability solutions.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, utilization and cost.
  • Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Assess resource utilization and recommend improvements to capacity, resilience and cost efficiency.

Containerization and Orchestration

  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Support Kubernetes cluster administration, upgrades, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Implement service mesh and ingress-controller capabilities where required.
  • Apply container security practices across image creation, scanning, deployment and runtime operations.
  • Define standards for container configuration, resource limits, secrets management and workload reliability.
  • Support scalable and resilient deployment patterns for microservices and cloud-native applications.

Monitoring and Reliability Engineering

  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog or equivalent tools.
  • Establish meaningful metrics, dashboards, alerts and service-level indicators.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Support incident management, root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
  • Improve platform reliability, availability, recoverability and operational excellence.
  • Identify recurring failure patterns and implement preventive engineering improvements.
  • Support service-level objectives and reliability targets through measurable operational practices.

Collaboration and Technical Leadership

  • Work closely with Development, Architecture, Security and Operations teams.
  • Provide guidance on cloud-native architecture, platform engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and technical documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning sessions, technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate technical risks, dependencies, operational impacts and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer are preferred.
  • Practical training or demonstrated experience in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and DevSecOps is required.
  • Training in Site Reliability Engineering, incident management, observability, cloud security and disaster recovery is preferred.
