Job Summary

Primary functions consist of the development, management and monitoring of the various product lines. Accountable for providing product design and support for specific product lines through the various stages of development and management of their products across various distribution channels. Has extensive Product experience and has taken on the responsibility of managing one or more specific product lines.

Position Responsibilities:

Product Development & Management

  • Manages a specific product lines from designing new products, proposing enhancements and handling escalations
  • Responsible for delivering on product projects and enhancements by working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. Pricing, Marketing, Claims, Underwriting, Finance, Systems)
  • Defines, develops and approves product design appropriate to both targeted client needs and business objectives
  • Manage end-to-end product initiatives including development of new and enhancement to existing portfolio
  • Ensure effective and timely resolution of product problems identifying were appropriate process/service improvements
  • Support annual business planning process including identifying key opportunities to grow the business across all channels
  • Monitor key financial drivers relative to targets and identify trends
  • Deliver product specific training

Marketing

  • Responsible for regular evaluation of existing product sales & marketing material to ensure they remain effective and up to date
  • Expected to identify and champion marketing related sales opportunities ensuring they align to Affinity and key stakeholder strategies

Cross Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise in assigned product categories to other departments or projects as requested
  • Negotiate support area resources as required
  • Provide second level support for claims and service teams to resolve issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Highly knowledge of the product line and goals of the department
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Knowledge and application of competitive information
  • Solid presentation skills to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and priority-setting skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Well-developed negotiation skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, including PowerPoint, graphs, charts, etc.
  • PC skills
  • Minimum 5-8 years progressive financial services experience with demonstrated excellence in sales and marketing

Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of the product line and goals of the department
  • Expert knowledge of customer / sponsor needs & the ability to position situations positively
  • Knowledge of the product policy; including legal and compliance implications
  • Lead and coordinate resolution of escalated questions/concerns from internal and external clients
  • Balances administrative costs and Distribution needs
  • Identify opportunities to increase customer value and company profitability
  • Manage relationships and projects
  • Significant experience making recommendations that trade-off business goals such as retention, sales & profitability for optimal results
