Job Description BAE Systems is a leading global defense, security, and aerospace company. Our Reliability Group is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our critical assets, including large machining and robotic weld systems. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team, working directly with operations and maintenance to maximize the reliability, availability, safety and output of manufacturing machinery within the business.

Job Summary:

As a Reliability Maintenance Engineer, your role is critical in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our large machining systems. This role requires a thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control systems as well as experience in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs. The Reliability maintenance engineer must have the skills to identify problems quickly, use problem-solving skills to develop solutions, and be able to communicate effectively with other departments in the organization. It will require working closely with maintenance and cross-functional teams, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to improve day-to-day servicing and troubleshooting while developing future maintenance strategies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams during major machine breakdown events to assist in response efforts.
  • Assist site maintenance teams in during custom interrogations of new technologies.
  • Improve overall performance by identifying and implementing appropriate improvements to control, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
  • Use the CMMS to identify and implement equipment-specific maintenance strategies.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Assist in new machine installation and commissioning, collaborating with OEMs and BAE Systems site teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Maintenance Planning and Standardization: Develop and implement improved maintenance plans, standardizing processes across the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Technician Training and Certification: Design and deliver an internal maintenance certification programs, providing comprehensive training to ensure technicians are equipped to maintain equipment effectively.
  • Troubleshooting and Failure Analysis: Troubleshoot equipment failures, conducting root cause analyses to identify and implement corrective actions, and prevent future failures.
  • Manages facility equipment and tooling spare parts inventories to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ability to think strategically to plan effective changes in the organization.
  • Perform machine alignments and compensations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills • Minimum of 8 years in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems on machine tools or equivalent experience

  • A high level of awareness of industrial safety hazards and how to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Project management experience and skills
  • Experience with large machine tools and maintenance strategies
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; capable of communicating summarized accomplishments in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
  • Good computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, and Heidenhain controls
  • Experience working with machine controllers parameters and logic systems

This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • Experience with reliability centered maintenance planning and predictive maintenance

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $107952 - $183518

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
