Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Network Engineering (Americas) is a senior technical leader who partners with peer leaders and solution architects to shape network engineering strategy and technology roadmap, while owning execution, delivery, and budget for the Americas region, spanning sites throughout North America and Latin America. Reporting directly to the VP, Network and Voice Services, this role is a peer to the Network Engineering EMEA, and together the two roles form the discipline based, globally minded leadership structure for network engineering. The Senior Manager is accountable for operationalizing the technology roadmap, including multi year modernization initiatives such as SD WAN and SASE adoption, network observability maturity, and budget ownership for the Americas region, while partnering with the Principal Architect and solution architects on global reference designs and standards. This is a strategic, hands on leadership role for someone who can operate at both the whiteboard and the executive table.

Key Responsibilities • Partner with peer leaders and solution architects to shape technology strategy and roadmap, while owning execution, delivery, and budget for the Americas region, including modernization of the WAN through SD WAN and secure access service edge (SASE) architectures. • Drive maturity of network observability across the region, including monitoring, telemetry, and automation platforms that reduce mean time to detect and resolve incidents. •  Own the Americas network engineering budget, including capital and operating expense planning, vendor and circuit cost management, and business case development for major initiatives. • Lead contract negotiations and manage strategic vendor and carrier relationships across the region, in partnership with procurement and sourcing. • Lead, develop, and scale the Americas network engineering team with sites across North America and Latin America, building the team into a layered organization as headcount grows. • Own delivery of network engineering projects across the full Americas footprint, including WAN, data center, cloud networking, and wireless initiatives at sites throughout North America and Latin America. • Serve as the senior escalation point for network infrastructure issues across the Americas, driving root cause analysis and long term reliability improvements in partnership with the NOC and cross functional teams. •  Partner with the Network Engineering EMEA, the Principal Architect, and solution architects to align Americas delivery with global reference designs and standards, and to drive consistency in SD WAN, SASE, and observability tooling worldwide. • Manage staffing plans, budget discipline, and resourcing across the Americas team, including sourcing decisions across North America and Latin America locations, with Costa Rica serving as a key operational continuity hub. • Present technology strategy, budget requests, and program status to VP and executive stakeholders, translating technical initiatives into business impact and risk. •  Represent the Americas network engineering function in leadership planning and future state organization design discussions.

Required Qualifications •  12 or more years of progressive experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, WAN, data center, and cloud networking technologies. •  5 or more years of experience leading and developing network engineering teams, including managing managers or senior individual contributors. • Direct, hands on experience designing, deploying, or operating SD WAN and SASE architectures at enterprise scale. •  Experience building or maturing network observability programs, including telemetry, monitoring, and automation. •  Demonstrated ownership of a multi million dollar network budget, including capital planning, vendor negotiation, and cost optimization. •  Demonstrated experience delivering network projects across multiple sites or regions, with accountability for enterprise scale reliability. •  Strong executive communication skills, with a track record of presenting strategy and budget to VP or C suite stakeholders. •     Experience managing distributed teams across multiple sites in North America and Latin America. Preferred Qualifications •  Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent SD WAN and security vendor certifications. • Experience in a global IT distribution, technology services, or similarly complex enterprise environment. • Familiarity with network security and voice or unified communications disciplines, given the close partnership with those functions. • Experience building or scaling a team through a period of organizational change or M and A integration. •  Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus.

  • Able to create and conduct formal presentations.
  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Able to negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.
